I wanted to know because my stock H23 is getting ready to poop out and a new (read 30,000 miles or less) motor would be great. I can get a JDM long block fron hmotors online for $900 Whats the diff between the us and jap motors, compression, bore, stroke??? anything??

 

In short, it is the same thing as an Accord F22 bottomend mounted to an H23 head.

It has a smaller bore and it doesn't have a knock sensor.

Do a search and you will see some pretty good threads about it.

Oh, and by JDM H23, I am assuming you are talking about the F22B. The F22B was the JDM equivalent of our H23, just with a little less tq.

 

no there is an H23 engine and its not an F22.

Trust me, that is an F22B. It has the same H23 head that ours came with. The bottomend is different. I bet they just label it as an "H23" so that the US customers don't get confused.

 

no it really is an h23. I bought one from there when mine pooped out on me. Its a euro h23 the engine code i got is h23a3 for 975 plus shipping from hmotors.

 

JDM 2.2l DOHC F22B does exist. The head is not entirely the same as the H23A1 but close enough. Otherwise AndyD is right.

yea i know the f22b exists i was gonna pick one up. But then i found hmotors and there rep is the best right now so i went to them.

 

basically that is the accord motor in japan. the h23 is only in preludes here and is in accords in Japan. the F22 DOHC and H22 are the only motors in preludes in Japan.

 

isnt the differance the compression ratios?

 

the h23 motors do not have a compression difference. the JDM vs USDM h22 motors do have compression differences.
