Default Would you buy this ITR? Please Hlep.

Im thinking about gettin' this Type R, this is what I know about the car so far when I emailed the guy: THis is his reponse: I'm somewhat of noobie when it comes to internals mods., so i need someone who knows their stuff to help me out. THanks.

Selling my '00 ITR.The car has red canadian type r seats (suede), HIDs, Toda Valvetrain, Hondata, DC Headers, SMSP Exhaust, RPS Clutch, Tein drop springs, Stock wheels with Falken Azenies tires, Compustar 900 mhz alarm w/ remote start, 20% tint all around. Clean title. $15,500 obo. I'm pretty flexible with the price.

1. I do not have the stock seats. They were swapped out because Canadian Type R seats are way better and more rare. Some guy offered me $1200 plus stock ITR seats (same thing but black). That's how good they are.

2. I am not the first owner, I believe I am the 2nd.

3. -Red Canadian Type R seats (Mint)
-Toda valvetrain
-DC Header
-SMSP Exhaust
-RPS clutch
-Tein drop springs
-Stock wheels with Falken Azenies tires
-Hondata ECU tuned
-HIDs

4. They been on the car for about 5k miles.

5. I believe it is the Hondata s200, and I do not have the stock ECU. Tuned by HandCommand in MN.

6. Selling the car to down payment on a evo or STi, I also just sold my cbr600.

7. I'd give it an 8/10. not bad for almost 6 years. runs great and vtec is trong. Car sounds mean!

8. Never crashed, never stolen, I have a compustar alarm worth $800 on it. It CANT be stolen, guaranteed by Compustar. NEver took it to the track. I have owned the car for about a month, and now I need boost! THats why I want an evo or STi, I used to have a stage 4 wrx and I need boost.

9. I am the original owner of the car now.

That's a little bit of contradiction....doesn't make sense

If it's never been crashed or stolen so how is it only 8/10? dings/scratches i assume?

Anything can be stolen if someone wants it bad enough

Have someone check it out for you. Pics would help the HT community though.

he says alot of contradictory things which seems fishy. i believe i am the second owner then saying he is the original. also the whole alarm thing is BS

My main concern is about the Mod he has as it relates to reliability, Toda valvetrain and the HOndta combo, is this is good thing? How would his current mod affects the way I mod the car in the future? Will I be running to rich/lean if I add addition things to the car such as cams?

Sorry about the pics, but just picture a stock black ITR with red canadian interior seats. If you wnt to see the pix, go to http://www.carsoup.com zip code 55405 and look for it, since I don't know how to add images.

he may have meant something different, but typed it out wrong.

doesn't mean its fishy.

i personally wouldn't buya car with aftermarket cams, if its not done right u have some serious potential crap to deal with.

if compression check turns out good, and a leak down test is good then id go ahead most likely

I don't know... something tells me he has something to hide... pass this up and wait for the next one. Be patient little one, the perfect R will show up sooner or later... gotta be patient when buying cars.

Hey it costs around 50 bucks and takes about 30 mins to do, well it takes me that long.

Tbh by the sounds of it you don't know much about cars mechanically, if this is the case then i would not purchase this car. It will end up costing you money, cars with cams and internal mods do need frequent tuning and are not the most reliable.

I would look for a stock car and buy that if it costs a few grand more so be it consider that the amount u would have paid to fix this up when it breaks.

Agreed.

Tuning is a big part, the car could have the most expensive parts in the world but if not tuned it will run like poop. If it has tuning but from some jackass it will run like poop. If your mind is set on this car then make sure to get a compression and leak down test, see if you can contact the shop that tuned it(by some chance maybe they'l remember it), talk to people around that area and see if its a decent shop.

All else fails buy from someone hear, there are plenty of good deals on HT right now.
