Default Not your typical exhaust question...

Okay, here's the deal. I found a few leaks in my exhaust system when I had it up on the rack the other day - which is awesome because it gives me an excuse to buy a replacement. But, I have a few questions first...

1) I have an LX four door with a y7, turbo waiting to go on. I will probably not have time to turbo until, say, Thanksgiving due to $ constraints (I want to tune it at the same time). The exhaust/ cat setup is unorthodox and looks to be teriminating at the same location as with a typical header. If that's the case, I would have to go with a test pipe or some kind of weld-up extension to make it connect to an aftermarket system, right?

2) Next problem... I want to go with a 3" exhaust. This creates an issue when hooking it up to that puny little stock collector. Solutions? As far as the exhaust shops out here go, (I'm in Tennessee) I don't know how far I trust them in regard to fabricating for performance. I intend on running catless when the turbo is on w/ Crome tuned P28 to eliminate secondary O2.

3) If I go with a Thermal (or possibly KTeller, which I know will be different) 3", how loud are we talking about exactly? The pics of this exhaust do not show that a resonator is part of the system! From what I understand about exhausts, 3" turbo exhaust on NA car + No resonator = LOUD AS HELL! I need this to be tolerable until the turbo is hooked up. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for all the help.

it will be kinda loud but not too crazy, as far as your hook up question, if you run an EX header or exhaust manifold, it will meet up with your exhaust, and eliminate the cat by itself. (your cat is right off the motor right)

Is that right? Curious, yes. Indeed, the cat is right off the exhaust ports almost. Are you sure that the ex header will not require anything additional to connect? I would assume, since the ex has the cat mounted downstream, and that is how most aftermarket exhausts are designed, under that assumption, that I would need a test pipe or something similar. Anybody?
