Default EK FRONT LCA - EX vs SI

Let me first say that I searched!

I know that rear LCA replacement really serves no purpose other than looking good. However, the Front LCA is a two piece cast on my EK Ex. And the Si is a one piece stamped steel (I believe).

Weight is NOT something I am concerned about, as the 3 Lbs wouldn't matter. Are there any benefits of replacing the front LCA with the Si's?

Thanks guys

using EX/HX front lca's oo an EK will give you the more variety of sway bar combinations because of the way they are mounted. you'll be able to use a EX, HX, GSR, or ITR front sway bar with EX/HX lca's and you will also be able to use traction bars. for Civic Si/CTR lca's, you can only run a Si or CTR front sway and you won't have the option to mount traction bars.

full race doesn't have them for the Si though. at least i can't find one. the lca's are two different designs and i haven't seen a traction bar for the Si specifically.

Si lca top, EX/HX bottom

the traction bar rods would bolt up to one of those bolts on the EX/HX lca

Would someone like to bring up the issue of the LX Civic? That also comes with a front sway bar, is it the same as the EX/HX front sway? I was told a 22mm front sway bar, but the Si comes with a 26mm front sway bar.

Also, you say the Si front LCAs are 3lbs lighter is that per pair, or per LCA?

Yes the 96-00 Civic LX sway bar is the same as the EX/HX sway bar which are all 22mm, I know because when I went to the salvage yard to buy my front sway bar setup for my 96 DX hatch I wanted an EX sway bar and the Civic LX sway bar comes up as the same and it was the newest car they had at that time and it was in like new shape so I bought it, and I have not had any problems with it and I checked at acura and I think the part numbers were all the same for everything but that was two years ago I can't remember exactly. But I did use 99 Civic EX front lower control arms with the 97 Civic LX sway bar and it bolted up just fine. Hope this helps.

good info, i was looking for a set of SI arms to mount the si front sway bar but it seems like ill just go with some EX/HX lca's since i have more front sway bar options.

Why does Honda use 2 different LCAs? Here in the Philippines, all EKs come with the stamped metal LCA.
