How to set timing with no TB cover?
I have a ls/vtec in my 93 DA. I dont have a lower timing belt cover on my motor and would like to know what marks i can go by for setting the timing. Im pretty sure that u line the red mark on the crank pulley up with the timing belt then set the cam gears up. But im not 100% thats right....

Use the white mark on the crank pulley matched to the oil pump pointer while cam gears up marks are up to set cam timing with crank pulley. The white line is to the right of the 3 ignition timing marks.
Red mark on the crank pulley is used when using a timing gun to set ignition timing. Use some spray cleaner and a bright light to see the marks.

Your cam timing isn't set correctly until the crank is in the right position, white mark on the oil pump/cover pointer or #1 piston at Top Dead Center (TDC). If you do indeed have it timed properly, look at where the white mark on your crank pulley meets the oil pump. There should be a mark you use to set your timing on the oil pump as well as the lower cover which goes over your oil pump.
Bad things can happen when not using a lower cover, your belt is too important to leave nakid. One little rock could ruin your day.

yes.
just set psiton #1 at TDC, crank it, and if air is exiting the exhaust, then you got it right, if air is coming out of your air filter, then its 180 off.

I have already fixed the cam timing, I had it right to begin with. Now i just need to figure out how im gonna set the ignition timing
I hate to say it, but you'd probably be better off putting the lower cover back on, not only so you can set the timing but also to protect the belt.
