zc timing belt HELP
alright im trying to change my timing belt on my dohc zc...i have to get the crank pulley to get the bottom timing belt cover off...the bolt holding the crank pulley on does not want to budge...im using a 1/2 impact wrench and penetrating lube...i also tryed a 1/2 breaker bar but engine turns over...is there anyway i can stop the engine from turning without taking off the transmission?....someone plz help
Use some penetrating oil and let it sit for like 30 min. Then you will need a strong impact gun to get is off. Do the same on you axle nuts if you ever wanna take them off they lock up the same.
axle nuts ive taken off of plenty of cars...i just have someone mash the brake pedal while i use a breaker bar...but this is my first time with a crank pulley and im by myself so no one here to help me with it...if and when i get it off ill let everyone know...lol...
anyway to take it off with a breaker bar by myself...how can i stop it from spinning? i would stock something in between the cam gear but...that doesnt look to thick and i wouldnt wnt to break 1...so where else can i stop it form moving

was also thinking of cutting a piece off the lower timing belt cover to just slide it out without takeing off the crank pulley...not to much though so i can put it back on...thats my last resort...????
i would think that since your using an impact it would be fast enough to spin of the wood druff key but i dont seem why it is so damn hard to get that pulley off.
One thing i did when changing mine was I took off the metal cover below the tranny and stuck a large screwdriver up there and it prevented the engine from turning over. then a little muscle power and bam....broken breaker bar..
but then we got it with another bar!

alright i took off my starter and tryed to sticka screw driver in the flywheel but it just kept poping out of the teeth. next is to try taking off the dust plate on the bottom of the tranny and sticking a screw driver in there. then if all else fails i wait till mon and use the harmonic balance tool and take it off the right way.

I borrowed a friends tool, I have no idea what it's called but it looked like a big *** handle (like a breaker bar) with a bike chain on the end. You wrap the chain around the pulley and apply pressure to the handle (sorta like an oil filter wrench). Then you can use the breaker bar for the actual bolt. Sounds weird, but if/when you see the tool, you'll understand what to do.
quick tip remove a spark plug and stuff the cylinder with rope. The rope will stop the crank from turning allowing you to break the bolt with a breaker bar , if not buy the special toool from honda
basically there are different version of this tool out there. Here is one style of them http://www.etoolcart.com/index...D=697 Um the rope problem does not sound that bad it would work aslong as stuff from the rope didnt fall in there. Have you tried going to autozone or checker and see if they loan the tool out. I am pretty sure them have that tool.
