Default my prelude is dead

A week or two ago I was looking for every thing I could do to my baby, but then my head gasket blew. so price hunting I went and found $800 was the going rate. The last place I went said bring it by us today and we will look the car over for you to see if theres anything else wrong with it. (there was) One of my pistons isn't holding compression. they told me I'm looking at a lot of work and money to bring her back to life...

so would you think getting a new engine is worth it? (if I get a new engine I will be putting it in my self)

you could rebuild the motor to... at almost the same cost of a replacement really and have performace parts... but now your decision would be FI or NA and then build it for one or another...

If you have a blown headgasket, of course there is the possibility that one or more cylinders will have low compression.
It sounds like they are taking advantage, id get a second opinion.

If the engine is otherwise sound, then you should change the headgasket and keep her alive!

Yeah they are just trying to get more money out of you I would take it to another place if I were you or look into putting the head gasket in yourself, get a helms and go at it. It really isn't that hard I did mine just followed the direction and made sure to torque everything to the correct specs. Not to mention you'll save yourself probably 6-700 dollars.
