Default starting problem......please help

Here's the scenario...

Car turns over when it wants too. When it doesn't, it sounds like it's gonna start, but bogs out, or doesn't turn over. I just replaced the battery because I initially thought that was the problem. Sometimes to get it to start, I turn the key to listen for it to prime and and when I think it's done, I turn the key all the way and the car starts.

Could it be my fuel pump? I was thinking of replacing the fuel filter as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Okay! I took a chance at just going to an authorized Honda mechanic and told him to just change the main relay since the fuel pump primes every once and while and I'm able to drive the car without it dying on me when I get it started.

After changing the main relay, he ran a free diagnostic for me cause he had nothing else to do and didn't want me driving off if there was anything else wrong with the fuel system and said he wasn't getting any codes.

It's been two days now and the thing starts up like a new car. Thanks deserthonda for the advise or I'd be out of $350 for the repairs I thought was wrong. I only spent $100 ($60 OEM main relay, $40 labor = 30mins.)

Glad that you got it fixed.... in the future, it really helps us and ANY technician out if you follow this simple rule when describing a no start:

There are two conditions-
No Crank, No Start - meaning the car doesn't try to start, like a dead battery
Crank, No Start- The engine cranks and cranks and but won't run, like out of gas

That's it... it makes it so much easier to think about a possible cause when we have the right information, and makes it easier to give advice.
