Is it possible to remove my AC compressor and condenser or whatever the radiator thing and the piece that bolts to the block are for the fall, winter and spring and then bolt them back up in the summer and have them work? Or will I damage it by removing those pieces?

 

as long as you store them properly. You would need to get them recharged when you put them back on

 

I would question what for? unless you enjoy spending 150+ on having your ac recharged every year. Is there a reason behind it?

The last time I recharged my AC I did it myself for 30 bucks. I live in Seattle where it hardly gets over 90. Even then I hardly use my ac because it slows down my car a lot. I was wanting to get rid of it so I have more options for turbo. I'll probably sell the car sometime in the future so i wanted to know if I could take it out and put it back on without damaging it.

 

Wal-Mart sells AC recharge bottles WITH the pressure gauge for about $20. As long as you are careful removing and storing it, then there will be no damage. Are you planning on removing ALL of the lines?

You do know that most a/c systems only rob between 4 and 8 horsepower right?

And yes you can take them off just don't let thme rust, it is very easy to seize a compressor if you let it sit.

Not my fault honda builds a jet ski with more power than most of their cars.

Yeah and it makes my car less powerful especially at low rpms. I like the convenience of AC, but it's not a necessity for me in Seattle's weather conditions.

 

its safe to remove the a/c just some tips tho

1. make sure you got oil in the compressor
2. make sure you cap the compressor inlet and outlet soon as your done dont wanna contaminate the system when you reinstall it
3. i would replaced the o-rings when you reinstall
4. cap off the lines that are exposed maybe with some finger condums and tape dont wanna let moisture or anything else in the lines
5. save all the parts you remove lol i usaly loose everything when i do things and come time to reinstall im missing a stupid nut or something

id say do it if ya want
