Only time I saw something like that is when the bearings went out on my s/c idler pulley, shooting metal everywhere. It punctured the p/s belt, but I had metal shavings everywhere as well.

 

Yep, it was just the shadow. I corrected my original post.

 

Kind of OT but I thought the brand of the belt was kind of funny...

Mutsuboshi?? It even has a logo that kinda looks like the Mitsubishi logo (three stars vs. three diamonds)... weird... but yeah the quality seems as crappy as Mitsubishi itself.

It looks as though something punctured it from the underside, and has a hole through it, you can feel it from the bottom. So total mileage on this belt ~5000 mi(maybe).

Mine had the exact same damage, but i replaced it along with the timing belt, water pump, etc..

I wonder how it could be the same damage in the same place?
