Only time I saw something like that is when the bearings went out on my s/c idler pulley, shooting metal everywhere. It punctured the p/s belt, but I had metal shavings everywhere as well.

Yep, it was just the shadow. I corrected my original post.

Kind of OT but I thought the brand of the belt was kind of funny...

Mutsuboshi?? It even has a logo that kinda looks like the Mitsubishi logo (three stars vs. three diamonds)... weird... but yeah the quality seems as crappy as Mitsubishi itself.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by KOALA YUMMIES &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">So over the summer I replaced all the belts (and a lot more), and everything has been running great. The belt is at the correct tension, charging has been fine, no alternator problems whatsoever.

So looking over the engine bay today I notice this:

It looks as though something punctured it from the underside, and has a hole through it, you can feel it from the bottom. So total mileage on this belt ~5000 mi(maybe).

Anyone ever see this happen or know what might have happened to cause this?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Mine had the exact same damage, but i replaced it along with the timing belt, water pump, etc..

I wonder how it could be the same damage in the same place?
