Default mpfi oxygen senser

fellas' just completed common mpfi swap in 88 civic dx and was getting code one which is oxygen sensor. I replaced that and after about 15 minuts of driving around .........again code 1 for oxygen sensor. Car is running ok at times and like crap at others. A friend of mine here in the ATL and I spent 6 hours at Acura shop he works at working on this thing and using instruction from angelfire.com and car hesitates and stall a lot but runs good at wide open throttle. We soddered and heatshrinked everything except 2 wires at distributor but they are crimped and rapped securely. We have no idea what else to do/check. Any advise is appreciated. Please note code 1 is the only code were getting.

what computer are you using?

was your o2 sensor fouled badly when you took it out the first time?

this is very strange that you replaced it and it is still throwing a code.

oxygen sensor looked normal to slight white cabon build on it but by know means fouled. The ecu i have is out of a 88-91 crx si it says. I did buy it and the throtle body off of ebay so it may be garbage. The car runs fine some times but then it runs like is arcing at times especially out of the whole just hesitating but then it will take off of a sudden, this is at full throttle. Its very weird and inconsistent and baffled becuase only code im getting is 1?

have you reset the ecu after swapping out the bad o2? if you dont, it will keep throwing the same code until you do.
