ECU HELP!!

okay, i have this p28 ECU... it came out of a 96 del sol. it plugs direclty into my 96 civic harness..
--the label reads:
37820-P28-A53
957-100248
i know it's for an automatic. i've been searching and can't get a straight answer whether it's an obd-1 or obd-2 ecu. any help is appreciated.

that's what i thought, but the plugs on the back of the ecu are obd2.. i think i'll convert it to manual and pull the 2nd o2 sensor. if it give me a code it's obd2.

I've never come across a obd2 p28, and everything in the FAQ section says they are OBD1, but you never know. Take it to a shop and have them look at it. that's probably the best bet.

how many plugs are there? 1996 was first year for federally required obd2 systems. for most hondas, 96 was obd2a, and 97+ was obd2b. If obd2, then you should have 4 plugs going to the ecu, obd1 only has 3.

I can confirm there are OBD-2A P28's. In my friend's 97 Del Sol SI Automatic there was one. We thought it was OBD-1 and that we could easily chip it but we found out differently after opening the cover and finding OBD-2A internals. That ECU should work and if it plugs right in, that's a good sign!
Dont beleive everything you read even in a FAQ. Everyone on here screams that ALL 96-98 civics are OBD2A and 99-00 is OBD2B...so I went and bought a OBDD2B to OBD1 conversion harness and was quite surprised to see it didnt work. And more to my surprise, my 2000 civic HX is OBD2A

Yeah I read into it a little bit on pgmfi...but in theend I stopped because getting a P28 (OBD1) was alot easier.
