Default D16z6 RPMs problems

Im new to the board so if this question has been asked before please point me in the right direction or help me out.

I have a stock d16z6 and am having problems with the rpms when the car is cold, the car seems to rev between 1500 and 2500 and once the car is warm the rpms sit at about 1400.

I took the intake tube off and stuck my finger over the bottom hole of the TB and the cars idle went down but didnt die. Not sure what it could be if anyone has had this problem please let me know what you did to fix it. Thanks

well naturally when the car is cold it will idle high and then slowly idle down...

if it doesnt idle like lower than 1000 RPMS after proper warm up adjust your idle

if you blocked the hole(holes) inside the tb and it did not bring it down to (600-800)
rpms. then I would say you might inspect for a vaccum leak.(intake mani. gasket, vac. line, map sensor o-ring,fitv(fast idle thermovalve),etc... or try adj. your idle ,pull the iacv plug off then adj. screw on the front of throttle body.

I understant that the idle will varie while the car is cold but it jumps from 800 to 2000 untill the car is warm (aka about 3 minutes, Also once I covered the hole on the TB it did drop to like 750. I have been told that its the sensor on the back on the TB. but then again Im not a honda tec.
