Default 1g crx motor in a 2 g crx

are the motor mounts anywhere near each other. i got a motor from nippon and one motor mount doesnt even line up and the tranny is having a hard time going together.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

im putting a d16a6 in my 1989 hf and having problems
thanks

EDIT* i guess i should clarify. I bought a motor intended for a 2g crx and it isnt bolting in easily. In fact one mount doesnt even line up. SO i was wondering if they could have screwed up and given me a 1g motor. I hope not

The valve covers look different, mounting points are different especially the driver side. Its also a 1.5.

If its a d16a6 motor it shoudl bolt in the 2g CRX.

Look at the distributor does it have vacuum lines coming off of it? If so, its a 1g since they were vacuum advance.

not sure.

I will get picks up when I get home. The guys at nippon told me that there were 2g zc's with dual carbs, but Im not sure this is the case.

i think the dizzy had vac lines, but wouldnt all dizzys have vac lines if they came on a carbed motor.

That motor should technically be the equivalent to a USDM D16a6 Si motor with just a tiny more aggressive cam. I dunno why it doesnt just swap right in though.

Try using a 92-95 d16 motor mount. You'll need to shave the sides down to sit in your stock motor mount bucket, though.

i dont know much about the single cam ZC motor.. but i would advise trying one of two things

1-- try using the 92-95 civic mounts which are shorter than the d16a6 mounts... and might line up correcly with your ZC motor bracket???? anyone???.... but like he said you'll have to shave the sides to fit into the frame bracket...

2--use the motor mount bracket attacked to the block on the driver side that was on the D15 you had in your CRX (if you did)... and use the motor mount that you have in the picture....... but from looking at the picture, for some reason it looks like the engine sits a little closer to the frame..?? not sure.. just don't do this unless it looks good... or will work.... you can put your Engine mount on the HF mount bracket.. if you still have the other egine.. and eye it and then determine if its worth taking the mount bracket off the HF and putting it on the ZC

option 2 i would be weary.. because in order to get at the bolts that hold the bracket on.. your going to have to take the upper timing belt cover off.. as well as the bottom cover.. and you're gonna have to take the crank pulley bolt off... which is a pain in the ***.. but necessary to get off the lower timing belt cover.....and then unbolt that sucker *(the mount bracket)

but i dont remember if the engine mounts from the D16a6 were the same as the D15?....

i had the same problem with a D16y7.. in which i used all of the brackets from teh D16a6.. and all of the engine mounts....i think this is your problem... i actually tried to shave down the 92-95 mount.. but i didn't like how it sat...

As far as the tranny goes... since you didn't put it on before you dropped the zc in .. i would advise getting someone to help y0u to line it up.. which is the hardest part unfortunately....don't try threading the bolts in untill you know its lined up .. or you will strip the threads.. and then your fuked

hey you should be able to use the mount bracket from your old d15/d16 for that. not the part with the rubber in it, but the part that bolts to the block itself..

im not sure if that will work.. but im just thinking out loud here..

im pretty sure that if I replace the actual bracket on the block that it will work, but it is a pain in the *** to get the crank pulley off! I was hoping there was another way. Ill look into finding a 92-95 bracket. Does that indicate that this motor is from a 92-95?

As for the tranny, I will pull it off and try lining it back up again.

Thanks guys

ZC

looks like a 92-95 drivers side mount to me.

use your old a6 mount. (go visually look at them for comparison)

Pull the motor and tranny out and bolt it together outside of the engine bay.

Get a hole puncher and stick it in the hole, hit it with a hammer and the little pin should come out and then you can remove the trany.
