Default someone had requested FCAW pics for a welding thread.

1/2" plates fluxed together quickly







not my best work as i was sort of rushed when i did it. oh well.

yay for fluxcore

what you see is what you get, the flux peeled off behind the puddle otherwise i would have left it on for comparisson as well. (i didn't want a mess in my car)

the setup is not your backyard 110v gasless mig, it's an industrial machine and a flux core wire that requires a shielding gas.

allows for a much hotter weld and better penetration. i'd take pics of the machines but cameras aren't allowed on the premesis. heh

When you use flux with shielding gas, how do you run the + and - ?

I think i know what stuff you are talking about. You push it instead of pull it right? I tried some with my 110 welder, i wasn't impressed with the results, but then again, it's a 110 welder.

yeah, you can pull with it but you have to do it very carefully, i generally push with it in globular, as close to spray as possible.

you run the + and - the same way as you would without shielding gas. i think we have ours set for electrode positive.
