Default High Horsepower streetcar guys - Need exhaust info/knowledge/recommendations

My car, whenever it should arrive from California, has no exhaust with the exception of a 3in downpipe. (My setup is a built 2.0 LS/VTEC GT3040R) Since the car is a weekend street/track car, I'm not lookin into throwing lots of cash of into a nice exhaust, such as a Thermal, HKS, Apex'i. I want to be able to drive to the track or to the local cruise spots without getting pulled for an exhaust ticket. I've thought going custom with a nice muffler would work great too. But I'm not a huge fan of paying $200+ for a Apex'i or HKS muffler. I know a guy in my area who will hook me up CHEAP and labor and piping. I'm really stuck on goin the custom route, what muffler do you recommend? Keep it mind, I would like a nice sound too. And I really don't want a restrictive muffler either. What do you guys reccomend? Loudness isn't that much of a concern, but if you can recommend a awesome decently priced muffler that still makes good power for you!

Am I hopeless and gonna have to save up for awhile?? Thanks for you help!

Get in contact with KTeller. I'm sure he can send you a 3" exhaust w/ something like a magnaflow or the likes.

Get the 3'' thermal axleback and custom piping.

I would do that, if I had the cash I get KTELLER, HKS or something. I'd love to, but I got a buddy who can run piping for ~100. I just need a sick *** muffler that does it all!

Diddo to this. My buddy put this on his b16turbo and it's a pretty amazing exhaust. One of my favorites.

Canister construction is basically the same on all canisters. Just get one with the style you want and the construction you want. I'm assuming since you want a high horsepower setup with a large diameter piping, then you'll want a straight through design. Just get one with a large inlet/outlet and a straight through design.

Many of the "N1 style" canisters will do this. I wouldn't spend more than $100-150.

Look on Ebay....seriously. Just look at their inlet/outlet dimensions and find what you need. The Ebay canisters are pretty good if you're just looking at the muffler section.

What type of muffler/canister design do you like? N1 style, where it's like a thick tube, or something that has an oval canister? What type of tip? Find out those and then just search Ebay. There are tons on there.

if your worried about quality of sound, magneflows are supposedly decent, and not too loud. (straight through wont be quite either)
One think on the loudness issue is that a turbo acts as somewhat of a muffler... so a turbo car is often quiter then an NA.

That's very true. Even with a nasty exhaust leak my car is still quieter than most of the rice rockets in my area.
