Default Crower 403s and still slow...

I recently installed a pair of Crower 403 cams in my stock LS set-up. After going to the drag strip, my ETs are not any faster with these cams. The car has never been on a dyno and the only other mod is an ebay intake w/K&N filter. My best ET on stock LS cams was 15.9 @ 85.

What can I do to maximize the potential of these cams?

cams in an LS motor aren't going to make much of a difference without tuning. Get some good dyno tune time and you'll be making more power without a problem.

And what would they tune on the dyno? I still have the stock cam gears and ECU - no hondata or SAFC.

I'm debating on purchasing an SAFC, but would like to know what and how gains could be had by tuning with one.

403's are not very aggressive.

I don't know why so many people ignore the good gains people have gotten with the 404s and the constant testimonials that the idle is not bad at all.

When I was doing my LS bulid I figured I want my money to provide some gains, go big or go home. In hiensight I should have gotten 405's.

I'm still using the stock valve springs and retainers and from what I read, you couldn't do that with 404s.

You gotta raise compression to get full potential of your 403's.

Search around for 403's or check out http://www.nonvtec.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=370 for more info.

seems like you're trying to take the really easy route here, buying cams without valvetrain, cam gears, raising your compression or even h/e. If you really want to notice a difference from the cams and see the full potential of the motor, you're better off doing the following:

header (2.5 inch collector)
2.5 inch exhaust
b16 pistons with arp rod bolts (increase your redline)
itr IM and tb (or similar aftermarket)
vtec transmission
fuel management system

all this should add up to a faster-than-type r non-vtec integra.

Dropping cams into a completely stock b18a/b is pretty much a waste. good luck

I am. I don't wanna waste money buying parts for my set-up that wont help me, so thanks for that parts list.

Is that all you have? Cams & PR3 pistons? Have you raised the stock fuel cut-off RPM?

Do you know if the ITR TB and IM is that same as the TB & IM on the B16a2? Does it require any modification to the LS head to bolt up?

You'll have to modify the manifold to put it on so your better off going with a skunk2 manifold.

And what sort of modifications would that be?

i have the usual I/H/E with P30 pistons and 403's with crower springs and reatiners. i tuned the car myself with uberdata with a fuel cut set to 8K, but i shift at 7.2K cuz these cams stop making power around 6.9K rpms

i ran 14.9 on an extremely hot day, track temps were in the 100*F!!! car could run mid 14's with some better driving (got a 2.3sec 60')
