No - spend the money building your GSR and you will have a better motor for the same $.

i personally love the jdm itr motor...in stock trim it is very strong and well balanced. when i first had my gsr motor, i chose that bc it was more cost efficient. after a little while, i really wish i waited and saved to get the itr motor..
get what you want...if its more...wait a bit....dont settle

i say sell it and get a jdm 98 itr, it will rape that gsr stock anyday and plus you dont have to go around looking for the tranny. Just think of it this way, with the money difference between the motors you wouldve spent it upgrading the gsr anyways, while you can get that extra power from the stock itr and i dont think you wouldve made the same power as the itr and you dont get the tranny, and everybody knows the itr tranny is so badass for drag in NA, i have a jdm 00 itr and i rape every gsr, us itr. So i say get the itr!

yeah I would say get the itr becuz you would be spending the same like what NAtural said. And stock ITR is more reliable then a built gsr. PLus LsD!!! that says it all!

Gsr all the way, you can get a gsr head to flow better than a type r. go with the p30s pistons, port and polish, as for lsd pick up a used type r and find b16 3rd and 4 gears.

type r's are over rated.

The JDM ITR will take more abuse without a hiccup and will be more reliable for high rpm abuse. The fact that it has close gears and LSD is already a big plus. Not to mention dual valve springs, decent ecu, bigger cams, polished head, ported short runner manifold, decent clutch, and high compression (to say the least).

If you don't know how to do the work yourself, you will spend more making the GSR like a type-r than you would selling your gsr and buying a type-r. Labor is not cheap... plus you have to hope whoever is working on it knows what they are doing. Hard to find a good mechanic these days. Good luck!

Even if you do know how to do the work, time is still $$$. In my case it was worth getting the jdm itr. Especially for all the hassle and cost of adding a LSD.

I ran my bone stock itr motor with bolt on;s in my eg and a smsp header at fontana on saturday I went 13.822 @ 104. I couldve went faster but I was bouncing all the way to the top of 2nd gear. I still was getting 2.2 60` times. TYPER all the way!
