Okay, my sunroof has major rust bubbles, but it doesn't leak. I need to replace the outer seals and the panel itself.

I can buy the panel itself from hondaautomotiveparts.com for $150 and then go somewhere and have it
painted/installed, or try to get the panel cheaper somewhere else

or

I can buy a used panel, get it painted to match my car (red) and then install it.

What should I do? How much will it cost to paint and install a new one? Any other alternatives?

Replace with dx/hf roof panel but it's gonna be more costly

 

I just replaced my sunroof of my crx.. if you don't have a crx then I probably can't help you because the hb's and crx's have different kinds of roofs. I just went to a junkyard and took the roof from another crx.. I completely disassembled all the parts from both roofs and reinstalled.. clean all your sliders and remember that WD40 is your friend. It worked great.. oh, and I went with a black roof on a red crx.. trust me.. the black roof on the red car that has black moldings looks WAY better than the red roof!

Did you remove the Whole roof or just the sunroof panel and rails? Is the whole roof removable without cutting anything? How do you get it off?

I'm asking because I have a wrecked Si CRX with a good roof and sunroof I would like to put on my DX CRX.

 

If you want to put a sunroof on a dx than you're gonna need more help then I can offer.. You can consider 2 things.. Robbing a bank (cuz yur gonna need the cash) and putting in a call to GOD (cuz yur gonna need him too)

if yur just replacing the sunroof on a car that CAME with a sunroof then yea, if the motor and rails work just take the panel.

 

yes I will just forget it then, no sunroof is less weight anyways, and what do I need sunshine and fresh air for anyways.

 

if you have a sunroof its pretty simple drop down everything from your headliner dome light a pillars rear view mirror sunvisors etc... then the whole sunroof rack just unbolts but if you dont have one no sense in wasting money trying to put one in.
