Some of them were particularly nasty, like the ones with guys getting speared by other bikes flying through the air.

Nah....I don't know why, but the thought of crashing doesn't ever enter my mind. What fun would riding be if you were always fearing going down? It wouldn't be fun at all.
Don't get me wrong, I don't stunt, speed, etc, and I like to think I'm a cautious rider....but things like this don't scare me. I guess those that it does scare are the ones who don't ride? Yeah, it would suck to go down - but I'm not going to worry about it until it happens.

Actually it looked like he was wearing a red hat. when he hit the ground ot flew off! I thought it was his head and it had exploded from the impact. Glad it wasnt

I have to wear the gear (military dealio), but i'd wear it anyways. i hate getting hit by rocks, bugs, birds, trees, and other stuff flying thru the air. i love watching the people that are riding without gear and get caught in a rain/hailstorm. i'm nice an comfy while they're trying to ride with 1 hand on the bike and the other deflecting hail. LOL. oh well, someday, they'll learn. since i got my full leather riding suit, very rarely do i ride in the summer without it. i still wear my other jackets, etc, but usually because the suit isn't reflective and the base won't let me on unless i have bright stuff. if i need to, just put on Aerostich. works awesome!! i need to buy an electric vest so i can wear it under my gear for the single digit days or whatever. sigh, how i miss everyday riding. snow really cuts it down.
