Yes it will. Same final drive, same countershaft/idle gear. I know this because I used a B16A countershaft, and GSR final drive ring gear in my LS in order to fit an ITR LSD.

let me clarify a little bit here. the B16 LSD unit will only work in your GSR if you switch to a B16 countershaft and ring gear. or an LS countershaft and ring gear for that matter. shouldn't be too hard to find either set, but the GSR ring gear won't bolt onto a B16 diff. the B16/LS diffs are smaller than the GSR and all B hydros with LSD.

If this guy has a normal GSR tranny can he not just get by with a B16 ring gear that matches his original final drive ratio?

i.e. his GSR tranny has a 4.40-1 final drive ratio... can he just get the 4.40-1 B16 ring gear?

theoretically yes but i've had problems before w/ a countershaft not wanting to mate with a different ring gear. what i mean is exactly that. the countershaft is theoretically the same but for whatever reason it had maybe a certain set of wear marks with the ring gear it came with so when i switched countershafts out the countershaft and ring gear wouldn't spin almost at all. tried over and over again installing it and trying to get it to fit and i finally decided it was worth a try to put the original countershaft back. sure enough it spun just fine. so now i don't mess with them, i just keep countershaft and ring gear together.

Which GSR??? Early 92-93..yes 95 -up GSR...NO(bolt patterns are different as said before)! It is always a good practice to keep ring and pinion sets together as a matched set. It prevents any disasters..and worst of all...a whiny transmission.
