Default Good Deal?

Hello all,

First time poster, long time lurker.

I'm looking at picking up a 5th gen Accord and I'm wanting some input on whether it's a good deal or not. Here are the specs:

1995 ex 2 door
5 speed
White on tan leather
147k miles

Overall it seems like a pretty straight car. It's all stock, no mods. Paint is a little dull looking, (the owner of the lot says it just needs buffed, but I don't know about that,) the factory rims are a little chewed up on the edges.

It drives very well, doesn't pull to either side, doesn't smoke, etc. The only foreseeable issue is w/the brakes. I think it needs a master cylinder because the pedal will slowly sink to the floor if you keep constant pressure on it.

I can pick it up for $4000.00. Does this seem like a good deal?

Thanks,

-Ben

Sounds like a decent deal... just make sure your not paying more than blue book. It's pretty rare to find a 5sp ex so pick it up.

KBB has the private party value at $3,775. So I would try and pay less than that.

Yes, it needs a master Cylinder. And you don't know how much useful life is left on the clutch.
If all it is; is oxidized paint, it will clean up.
13,000 miles per year...... 147k/12 yrs, wasn't used much
Brakes will allow you to do some upgrade work if you so choose.
The price has a little wiggle room

Well, the car is on a lot, not private seller. Asking price was $4995, and I've got them down to $4000, but they won't move anymore. I've seen bank sheets, (I'm friend's w/the owner,) showing they paid $3812.93 at auction, plus transport costs, hence the $4000.00 bottom line.

What do you think, would you buy it for $4K?

Thanks again,

thats a decent deal -but are the brakes good enough to even drive it off the lot?....you should at least have them throw in an extra $100 for the cost of the MC, if not the labor

That sounds like the average price in this area, and because I go to auto auctions alot I believe the dealer'invoice'. The gas prices have had an effect on the prices of 4cyl cars, hondas and toyotas are selling at dealer auctions near kelly blue book.

like said above the 5spd ex is pretty rare so if you have your heart set on one then i wouldn't pass this one up. 4g's isnt a bad price, nor a smoking, once in a life time deal. i say go for it.
