Check for leaks.

How old is the water pump?

EDIT: Bleed the coolant system.

EDIT, again: Not trying to insult you, but did you put in the thermostat the correct way?

Turn the car on without the radiator cap on. Let it idle for 30 minutes. Check both radiator hoses to see if both are hot. If the bottom one is still cold, you need to put the t-stat in the right way. If they both get hot, rev the engine and you should see the coolant flowing quickly in the radiator if you peek thru the radiator cap hole (?).

Check to see if there is good air flow thru the radiator. Make sure there is ram air coming in from front.

I would also check oil filter for any metal. Cut it open and see for metal. Don't use hacksaw.
