I just removed my power steering belt, and didn't really feel a difference in power. Anyone know how much hp the P/S kills? Also, this should give me better gas mileage too right?

I have never seen PS dyno runs for a D-series, but on the B-series charts I've come across, the gains are normally around 4-7 whp.

wtf? any whp gain is good, unless you're ******* something up in the process. I remember a teacher at tech. school saying if you only disconnect the ps belt, you will **** up some **** seriously...

Really? I don't think 7 whp is possible by eliminating the PS. Maybe the A/C, but the PS doesn't put that much load on your engine. If you saw the dyno charts, you saw the dyno charts.

 

Any idea what I would f*** up in the process or are you just trying to sound like you know something? I've worked for Ford for years and I've never heard of somebody ******* **** up because they took a belt off.

I also wanted to see the diff between the stock box and AEM, and see how much gains you actually receive from removing the power steering belt.

Mods:
AEM Intake (currently in shortram form *)
JDM DC 4-1 Header
2.5" Carsound cat (rattling and soon to be replaced)

*I used to have the AEM in cold-air form, but replaced it with stock intake. At some point I decided to put the AEM back on in short-ram to see how I liked that.

So anyway, on to the numbers:

Run 0: AEM short-ram: 160.9hp/122.5tq

Run 1: AEM short-ram: 161.2hp/122.5tq (basically no change, 0.3hp, just wanted to warm car up and see if it was consistent)

Run 2: Stock airbox: 164.9hp/121.1tq (peak 3.7hp gain, 1.4tq loss)

Run 3: Removed power steering belt: 169.5hp/123.4tq (peak 4.6hp gain, 2.3tq gain)</TD></TR></TABLE>

Dude, what's your deal? All I was saying is, if the fluid isn't flowing like it should (because the pump isn't moving anything) you can **** something. I wasn't being a dick, so you shouldn't either. chill out. anyone else have any evidence to back this up?

The system will be fine. The only real issue with just removing the belt is that the steering effort will be quite high, since you are still forcing the fluid through all of the lines and the pump.
