ok ive just bought a Ek4 and it has a Y80 tranny instead of the original S4C, my question is?
How can i know if my tranny is from a LS or an GSR or what kind of tranny do i have because the past owner just told that he changed it and that the tranny was from a Teg and that the only thing he knows!!!! the reason im asking this is because ive recently foun a S4C Gearbox and im thinking on making the swap what shoul i do?

YOu can tell from the gearing. The LS gearing is a lot longer better suited for turbo and such. The GSR is slightly closer gearing, better acceleration, etc. What is the stamping on the tranny itself?? A picture would help

i also can tell you that when i shift fro 1st to 2nd reving up to 8.3 the revs go all the way down to 5.6 and keeps the vtec engaged, and that goes for all the consecuent gears
