Skunk 2 intake man. worth it?
anyone using a skunk2 intake manifold on there gsr?, just wondering if they are really worth it, and what some of the + and - 's are.
thanx a lot

supposedly, 7-8 hp. you will not gain low end but you will gain top end. if you plan to put in a more aggressive cam lik type r's or toda or skunk 2's it is totally worth it. v-tec will engage a 4600rpm intstead of 5500rpm.
1. the stock manifold i'm running now has the "gay" secondary runners removed already, thats why i wasn't sure if it was worth getting the skunk 2
2. GSR vtec crossoever is at 4400 unless you chip the puter
(secondary butterflies open at 5500 ~5600 rpms)

Hell I love the Skunk2 IM, but if you get it, make sure you get your Car tuned. TAKE A LOOK AT MY MOST RECENT BASE DYNO PLOT(at the bottom of my webpage, below). I HAVEN'T TUNED IT. BUT I MAKE GREAT TORQUE AND PULL ALL THE WAY TO 8200. Thing is I've got that nasty *** dip at vtec. BuT ONlY for 2 More DayS

I had my Skunk2 Manifold installed on my 2K GSR about 3-4 months ago. Here's what I have noticed with my "***" dyno.
Not much loss in bottom end and really not much gain in top end. The reason why I installed it is b/c it was a gift from my brother and I plan on adding Jun2 intake/ITR exhaust cams along with JDM ITR pistons in spring/summer so I know down the line the manifold will pay off.
Current Set-Up:
ITR AEM CAI
Skunk2 Manifold
Skunk2 Cam Gears
DC JDM 4-1
Carsound Cat
Apex N-1
With this set-up I was able to pull 14.8-14.9's on stock tires and a fugged up suspension.

dude, i pull 14.8s w/ a DC header and suspension.
Anyway, i'm also pondering the Skunk2 manifold. Would it be better to have my stock manfold ported and polished instead? And what throttle body should i use after I change the IM? And a final annoying question: Will a GSR's Comptech IceBox fit that TB?

SwEEt...
I only got like 3 Pics from nopi cause I lost my other camera, Thanks for the pic. And the butterfly valves open at 5800. Um as you see in my dyno above. Your car will pull better higher up.. that also has something to do with the JDM 4:1, but You will need to have your car tuned and have a fuel air controller. But if you aren't going to build your motor(internals,ie. Cams, pistons) than you don't really need the skunk2 intake manifold.
