That sucks... Wonder if there is anything smaller. For something as small as a 50cc, it might just be easier to use and electric blower or an emission pump.

I did something to that effect. or was going to, but the engine blew up. I bought a leafblower for harbor freight for 10.99, took it all apart and made it force air straight into the carb, Had great torque for about 10 seconds, then the piston ring let go.

im probably gona put an ihi v24 or v14 on an 18hp twin cylinder briggs and stratton lawnmower engine and make a scooter to put around campus on... then im also debating taking a schwitzer turbo and boosting my 94 f150

Since it uses a carburator, you should have made a pressure box around the entire carb otherwise it wouldn't have enough gas. Atleast I believe this is how it needs to be done on a carburated engine.

Also, what about boost and reeds? These smaller engines use reeds so I wonder if the pressure on the outside of the reeds is greater then the crank pressure, then you'll never get the reeds to close...

Maybe this is just a pipe dream, but it would be fun to play around with.

I've really looked into this. A 50cc engine just doesn't provide enough exhaust gas to spool even the tiniest of turbos...plus since I'm guessing it's a 2 stroke, performance will be severly hindered until full boost is hit because of the added back pressure. I'm thinking of doing something else like supercharging using "the turbonator" ...j/k

kind of funny because me and a buddy have been thinking about this same thing for the last week, but the more we look around and do research the less possible it looks. best case senerio is to build a go cart and drop in a d-series motor and boost that

2-strokes use reeds.

I've never seen a (modern) 4-stroke with reed valves.

I remember seeing something like this in Turbo years back when they took a tour of some turbo company. It was pinkie size, good stuff.
