Default Power Windows -> Manual?

Has anybody converted their power windows to manual? What time of weight saving are we talking about by removing the power window mechanisms?

<--- knows the weight is small but is bored at work and is just thinking...

I'd imaging about 4 lbs a side maybe. That's if you take the motor and switch assembly and all that you could out.

If your going full race, then why not just pull the complete glass and parts out?

If it's only 8 pounds, stop eating those burgers and loose the 8 lbs on your body.

I really am glad to see some of you are still reading the best-seller and very popular Honda-Tech book "Easy and Clever Sayings to Get You Noticed". But really, that answer is tiresome and so over used around here.

I vote remove the glass and everything. Then make a mount to hold a lexan/acrylic piece in which you can bolt on and off.

That's fine if you're not planning to drive the car on the street anymore. I agree though as I don't think the savings will be worth it without removing the regulators, wiring, sliders, etc. Just my opinion. I can weigh the stuff at home if you'd like as I still have it.

Please weigh. If anything close to 20-25 lbs, IMO it would be worth saving. This would be ideal for a dedicated race car. Even if you dont see any street time, it could be a problem towing the vehicle. I have pulled my Integra through a rain storm and it wasnt fun. With this modification, it would have only accumulated a big pool of water inside my car.

There was a cool mod one of the guys posted up in the RR/Auto-X forum, he made removeable windows (plexiglass or lexan, cant remember) bent it using a peice of metal riveted to the window and made brackets on the door frame that utilized Dzus fastners.

This was just for towing purpose/drive to the track when raining/bad weather purposes.
