(its a 90crxsi)
i saw rebuilt with 1 yr warranty on ebay for $135
also there is rebuilt from autozone etc...
or i can just get it new from Honda
i am on a budget, but at the same time i plan on keeping my crx for a long time and want it to last and be OEM quality, so which do you think is the best way to go for me? opinions? thanks

Well a new from Honda will be more money than a rebuilt one but you will have OEM quality.
If you're on strict budget you will probably have to get a rebuilt one.

so that link is for rebuilt parts on hondaautomotiveparts.com ? i did'nt know they sell rebuilt
also while looking i noticed that i really don't know what parts i need because it looks like the steering gear box and steering rack go together sort of????
i just don't know if i need all this or not, but the main thing is that if the car is off the ground you can move the tie rod bar in and out of the rack if you hold it and yank back and forth or the same if you hold the wheel, the wheel moves
so i don't know if i need the whole steering rack? or just tie rods, but the car does have 180,000 miles so i do want to replace anything that would make it better.

i dont think they sell rebuilt steering racks. i think they are all new. you can buy a rebuild kit or atleast all the parts to rebuild it though from honda, and just rebuild the one you have.
and are you saying you need a rebuilt rack because you can pull on your tie rods and the rack moves? because... .. .
maybe i just dont get the problem.

if money isn't a thing Quaife makes a shorter ratio one I'd love to snag one day.
I would look into that ebay one though in your shoes

ok thanks for the replies, i will just look into it further, i don't want to have to rebuild it myself though thats for sure
you know, i can only think of 2 specific parts that are possibly rebuildable on a non-powered steering rack. e.g. the rack end bushing and pinion bearing. its otherwise a very simple mechanical piece. im not sure if its worth spending $100 on a new(ly rebuilt) rack for $15 worth of parts.

yeah i know i kind of procrastinated since i talked to you last, i just have been busy, and just trying to decide which route to go now, i wish i could just find a place that does rebuilds for your old rack, i just don't want to take it apart and mess with it, cause knowing me something always happens and i'm stuck.
so the less time the better, cause i gotta find another car to get to work in while i am doing it. but i need to get on this and order or buy the rack or whatever i need cause at least then i will have it to work on it.

Agreed. Save the money and rebuild it yourself.
Even replacing the boots and all the seals along with the end bushing and bearing is going to cost WAY less than $100.
