Default Best b16 parts

So I'm hoping to get my car running tomorrow and I was just gonna go down to summit racing and get some parts for my new b16a2 and I know when you go down to summit and places like that they need to know what car your motor comes out of and what year...

so I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what I should say... like what year and what car exactly...

and I was wondering what brand headers should I get (what brand gives out the most power)?

also what brand cams and cam gears?

any other things you guys think I should buy to create more power?

Type-R cams are one of the best bangs for the buck.

I like the buddy club head package..You get cams, valves, springs, cam gears and retainers for $900..And it really makes a difference..But if you get something like that then you need atleast a vafc and fpr to add fuel..And while you're at it might as well get a nice intake manifold..Type-r,skunk,blox,etc..

As far as headers I like the dc 4-1 1 piece with the 2.5" collector..

And for parts you have to use 90-91 integra for some, and 2000civic si,delsol dohc vtec for others..There is a big list somewhere on the web..

well if its a b16a2 then its for a 99-2000 civic si, no other car had that motor, def not a 90-91 teg. the del sol vtec had a b16a3

How much are you looking to spend?

Here is my suggestion:
$45 - get your ECU socketed and chipped
FREE - download Turboedit (for OBD 0) or CromeFREE (for OBD 1)
$45 to $85 - buy an EPROM (aka chip) burner

Do the above instead of a VAFC cause you'll have control over fuel, timing, VTEC x-over, full-throttle launch/shift.

For power adders I would upgrade in the following order:
$50 - ebay intake
$300 to $600 - ITR, CTR or aftermarket cams (ie Buddy Club, Skunk2 stg 1-you can probably use stock cam gears)
$200 - intake manifold (Blox, Edelbrock Victor-X, Skunk2)
$300 to $500 - valvesprings, titanium retainers (check out SuperTech)
$250 to $550 - catback (custom 2.25-2.5" or aftermarket)
$150 to $350 - DC header (regular 4-1 or even the JDM ITR 2.5" 4-1)
$40 to $120 - test pipe or high flow cat ( you should get the cat/testpipe/header at the same time)
$100 to $300 - overbore the stock throttle body or get an aftermarket one (BBK, Ericks Racing)

With a little fuel and timing adjustments, that should be good for around 20 -ish more WHP.

to get over 200HP? pistons rods, and maybe a turbo. Or if you happened to have a 75 shot nitrous system laying around, then it would get you above 200 HP.

yeah I know with the 75 shot I'm well over...but a consistant 200hp at least which I can make that without pistons rods and a turbo... I have a turbo kit I'm getting rid of I just want constant clean power that won't destroy my motor lol but I still might put the turbo on

a good tune and a turbo = a reliable 250-300whp b16a, do your homework join the pgmfi.org, use your turbo kit (free), get all socketing parts as blue shadow instructed. Enjoy boost and smoke joint

also if you dont tune your car even with cams you can destroy your motor.

hahahahahaha ^^^^ well I want to boost it but the b16 will blow so fast if the bottom end isn't built... and I know I would have about 300hp with this kit I built on it but I don't want to blow my motor and then end up having to spend a bunch more... and I have someone lined up to buy it for $1200...

good poll question-sell or put it on

no it wont, tuning is the key. 300whp is vary easy/safe and if you feel ***** you can always make 250 and be safe, which will be alot better than ctr cams

I'm not feeling *****... its just common sense to not put that much stress on a motor that isn't built for it... I guess I'll get the cams and cam gears upgrade the fuel system and then boost it... another thing is I'll be losing money... I need the money but at the same time I want the power... so it sux but whatever

so if I tune my b16 right it will handle how much psi? consistantly?

because all my friends that have gone through this havn't seen it done consistantly with that much power... engine always goes after a couple months and thats not even racing it that hard...

waht about a light weight fly wheel... This helps alot. If you wanna get about 200 hp.You could also consider doing a port & polish on the head, followed by a floor bench, & skunk 2 stage 2 cams... I do believe that compression has to be boosted to feel the true power of these cams.

what was their ems? psi is relevant to the turbo, a t25 at 10 psi doenst make what a t3/t4 makes at 10psi and that doesnt equal a gt40r. catch my drift, the key is to determine your power goals, find a turbo to match, then build the system and tune it responsibly. Invest in a wideband to monitor afr and use a dyno to determine timing curves. If you do your homework and pay attention boost can be reliable. Just add a turbo and an fmu and true you have a timebomb.

I made 275 whp on my stock internal b16a until something fell in the timing belt housing, forcing hte belt to jump on the intake cam, thus advancing the dizzy. The end result was i ended up breaking a ring land and hte car ran like **** after a new t belt was installed.

I thought H-T was based upon people exchanging info. sorry if you think this is dumb but I know you were once in this same spot with your turbo set up so... yeah well thanx for the help

anywayz do you know of any sites with some T3/4 info? that could tell me what I should get and how I should tune it?

clutch and flywheel is always a good upgrade(buy a 6puck sprung)...as far as headers go dont bother with anything they sell at summit...save ur money and get a nice custom piece from anr,sms etc....try the allmotor forum theres alot of info on cams, headers etc... and if your shooting for 200whp b16 better have looottts of $$ saved up its not easy

sorry if i come off annoyed, im not; im accually trying to help , if you want to same some money, i would look into diy ems, like turboedit, crome or uberdata. Read jeff evans tuning forum for tuning info (alot of great info there) do a little searching in the ht fi history. also for the DIY ems info http://www.pgmfi.org is a great site, but make sure you read teh wiki, people their arent there to hold your hand so you have to do some work on your own. But its is totally attainable if you give it time and do your research. Hell if you need a base map or help setting up the ems pm me or aim me, Boosted chemist, and i'll do my best to walk you through it between my physical chemistry class and intermediate oragnic lab.
