get a manual from the DMV, then take the written test. then I suggest going to the MSF something course. its like 200 bux, then the DMV waives the actual or riding test. since the MSF course is going to give you that as a final. then u will get a certificate some letter 389 then you take it to DMV then they give a license. I passed my written today. heheeh very easy, missed two though. Im from cali also, so nothing diffrent. Good luck.

Go to this site or just call them.

California Motorcyclist Safety Program
(877) 743-3411
http://www.ca-msp.org

I think when I did my MSF course it was 2 riding sessions and two classroom sessions. They provide the bikes, my class had helmets to borrow too (I brought my own though), you will just need gloves and boots that cover your ankles.

Take the MSF course, learn some stuff, pass and wait for the paperwork in the mail, go to DMV with your MSF certificate, take written test and get license, real easy.

The MSF course is the way to go if you don't know how to ride. Better to drop their bikes than your own. If you already know how to ride go to the DMV and take the written and skills test.
