Alarm wont work......
I have a viper 791 and when i use my remote nothing happens. I'll hit the lock and unlock button and nothing will happen. I only get the beep beep sound from the transmitter and thats it. Whats seems to be the problem?
At first it would work on and off and would have to keep hitting the buttons numerous times and playing with them for them to work, and then one day it just stopped working alltogether. I took the remote apart to see if i could mess with it and still nothing happned.
What could be the issue?
By the way It has a remote start and I didnt get it installed by a dealer, but for someone who does work at a dealer just after hours and right now i cant get in contact with the guy cause I moved and i'm not close to him so i need an alternate.
Help and Thanks

your car may be in valet mode, is the alarm light on your dash flashing solid color ?
If it is its in valet mode, follow the procedure to take it out

reread your question, my other question is.
Is your alarm arming/ disarming with the click of teh buttons ?
Or is it just the door lock unlock not working ?

Nah nothing is working</TD></TR></TABLE> Try and put it into valet, turn ign. on then off and then, [within 10 sec.] press and release the valet button, the alarms LED should come on solid, repeat to take it out of valet, although this is not an indication that the alarm is ok, but it does point to the remote or the receiving ant. as the problem, make sure the ant. is properly plugged into the "brain" also make sure that the ant. lead has not been damaged, [pinched] unfortunately that is about all you can do, what we would do next is try and program another remote, to see if that was the problem, and if that did not work, we would plug in another ant. to see if that was the problem.
If testing/replacing the remote and ant. did not work. the problem has to be in the brains RF section, and we would plug in another brain, without sending it all to DEI, you really need a whole other 791, to test and eliminate each piece as the problem and find what is wrong.

when you say "ant" do you mean antenna thats in the windsheild or the wire into the brain? Just asking for a little clarification. on what your talking about doing.
I mean the whole thing, right from where it plugs into the brain, the lead the runs up to the "mast" and the mast itself, check it all, more then a few time i have seen them unplugged at the brain, [poor install] pinched lead, [again poor install] and another common problem, when running the lead it was pulled across a sharp metal/plastic edge, cutting into the lead, I have also found "cold solder" joints in the mast base, [not hard to check and fix if you know how to solder. or have a buddy that does]
