you get what you pay for.

with that said, i would look into something else.

edit: what are the goals for your car? do you want loud, obnoxious, ricer exhaust? or would you prefer a more quiet, stock sound?

edit #2 : if your boosted i would look into 3" exhaust (thermal r&d)

for the rattle, did you check all heat shields?

if you are content on replacing, look into ITR exhaust which i am sure you could find in the classifieds here, or look into apexi ws

Yeah, I took all the heat sheilds off, still rattles. I guess its common to beak some sort of weld on the earlt GSR's.

I've decided that I want to replace them, but I'm not sure what to get. I'm guessing (like my previsou civic's) that I'm not going to see much of a gain from a header, so somehting cheap is prefered unless I can see some major gains. an ITR sounds good, is there a DIY on that or is it just a direct bolt up to the GSR?

Thanks!

axle back will bolt up, otherwise you are going to need a new cat as well. I would just look into the apexi WS, they're pretty cheap these days.

I just want to replace the headers. The cat back is still solid.

Just looking for headers. Tring to see if there is any real advantage to say 4-1 or 4-2-1 or ceramic and all these. But the search feacture is not working at the moment

What I would really like to know is if the ITR headers bolt directly to the GSR.

Ahh, your post says exhaust And the car only has one header.

GSR's its usually recommended to get the 4-1 as it has a better top end gain. The ITR header will bolt up but you would have to either replace the cat or get it shortened a little as the ITR/LS headers are slightly longer than the 94-99 GSR's.

But if you're looking for a more stock decent replacement head the OBX isn't that bad of a choice. Otherwise you can get a DC 4-1 SS fairly cheap as well.

Thanks.... yeah I know they only have one header.... I just wish I could type what I mean. lol

Anyway, I saw this DC-S SS header on ebay for like $100, that can't be the same company as DC?

Can the expensive headers really mae a difference in the car? Like I said, I've previously had mostly SOHC engines, which a header does nothing other than a new shinny thing to point at.

i would not reccommend e-bay header, either, just for the simple fact that people that order a header such as OBX, have reported problems with welds. once again, not speaking from personal experience, however, i am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for"

Yeah that's an imitation, and like the above me said some of the generic ones can have crappy welding. One of my friends has had an OBX header on his Si for about two years now and hasn't had any problems. The cheapest I would go is OBX, anything else I'd stay away from.

Have you checked the classified for any deals? Or even used ones people here may be selling?

I also believe in you get what you pay for. But in this case I am not looking for a $700 Mugen header. I just want something that will stay together to get rid of a rattle that is annoying me. I am tring to get an idea of how much this is gonna cost me.

Yeah I looked around on here, but today the search function is not working, and I'm not willing to go through every post. I only found a couple good ones, and for some reason the seller never reaplied to me

Anyway, thanks for the help!!!

by that do you mean...last longer than the other before falling apart..

or the one thats less obnoxious. (loud)

You can find a good used exhaust for the same price and itll last longer.

Again...i think someone already said it but check your heat shields...alot of the time they will rust apart but not be able to fall off. So they just sit on top of the piping or cat, and rattle and make all kinds or rediculous noise.

I agree I have an OBX header and cat back (on the car when I bought it) and it sounds pretty good, not loud or buzzy at all, but im definetly looking in getting nicer ones, im sure these parts are much more about looks that performance. However they have held up remarkably well

Well i have a 93 ls and i bought a tsudo cat back. when i got it put on it didnt fit the best, like it raddled on my heat shield and also hit against my bumper.... but i got a flex pipe and lowerd the whole system down and no more rattles... it was worth it, i only got the cat-back for $100 anyway... but if your looking at tsudo it is verry quiet... i mean when i had my stock header on there it was almost the same sound as stock.. but then when i got my header it got more of a rumble and it turned out to sound nice.. it wont get you pulled over eather, it gives you the power gains without a realy loud exhaust.

if you want a real gain you can't juss get a header or you can't just get a cat back you NEED to get header-highflow cat- cat back exhaust system so the WHOLE exhaust system can breathe whats the point in getting a header if you don't have a nice highflow cat and cat back to compliment it it will flow better till it gets to the stock cat and it'll be as if it was stock anyways cause its so restrictive
