#2 is the mount, #1 is just a bracket. If somebody told me a mount was broken, I'd be looking at #2, but take them both off and check them out, it's easy enough to get at them if you take off your intake manifold.

+1 The rubber portion is probably deteriorating.

What's hard about that? I've done it several times and it's a piece of cake. If he has a problem wth something that simple, then maybe he should stick to having a professional automotive technician do the work on his car.

Ok the mechanic told me that that sputtering my car was doing was because of the missing rear motor mount so #1 or #2?? The car also doesn't come with the original engine so maybe the guy didn't tighten it up enoght and the piece of the motor mount got loose and fell???, and do you have to lift the car in order to install/replace the rear motor mount?

I always just get at it from the top by taking off the intake mani. Maybe not the best way, but it works for me and it's a bitch to try to work around it. As far as what's broken or missing, nobody here has any way of knowing without looking at your car. It's a torsional mount, so it doesn't hold the engine up, so you shouldn't need to lift anything. You should be able to do this in the driveway with hand tools. I replaced mine with Hasport mount recently and it was pretty easy.
