Will Honda bring the Type R stateside?
Given the new Si's specs and price, I feel like they'd be shooting themselves in the foot. Thoughts?

U refering to the Honda Integra Type-R to go above the RSX Type-S? I think its entirely feasable, and I heard the K20R should be easily modded to meet out emission standarts. The Civic Si coupe must not be as fast as the RSX Type-S or they wouldnt do it, or they WILL be bringin the RSX-R to the US. If the RSX follows the same trend as the DC2, it wont be redesigned till 2009, haha.

I think its just as fast if not faster then the current Type-S, depending on the weight. It just doesn't make any sense

this has been discussed many times before, type s goes for 23 out the door, type r will go for over 25, its a 3-4 thousand dollar differance from 210 hp to 250 hp, a grand every 10 hp.
the type s is already a underated type r
and the usdm dc type r's are overated type s. only thing is k series is the new b.

The 2006 Civic Si motor was especially designed for that car, and the car has a better centre of gravity and polar moment of inertia compared to the older RSX coupe. The Si will also come with a Torsen axle, which is a clear advantage on the track compared to the RSX, which doesn't have one available even as an option.
I think the Civic Si and RSX are going to have some customer overlap, but overall sales will be higher than if they only sold one of the models.
On a track, I'd really rather be driving the new Si.

I'm talking DC5 Type R

Ever D2R they sold over here was being sold for less than it was worth - so every DC2R they sold, they lost a few thousands. I don't think that Honda will make the same mistake again. And yes, this topic has been covered already.

They have said they lost money on every DC2 ITR sold over here, but where did you get that it was "a few thousands?"

Well the rumor just popped up again in SCC but I'm still thinking we are not going to get a DC5R. I'd probably finagle my finances to buy one if it did come though.

I figured as much but I think the dynamics of the discussion change when you factor in the new Si. Now that what we know what it has and what it looks like, people would be damn near foolish to pick the RSX-S over it.
Basically I'm trying to figure out if anyone has a clue what the hell Honda is doing lol

Will they bring the DC5-R over here? Probably not.
Not only is it not profitable for Honda, they have just recently updated the RSX with the K20Z and the exterior changes. It's basicly a R already, or the closest we will get anyway.
Whats the point of bringing in a model that will be more expensive than it's worth? There is just too much competition these days and much better options for the price of what the R would cost. Don't get me wrong I would love another R but in reality it's most likely not going to happen.

same car basically, but cheaper..i like the styling of the dc5 over the new civic si, so i decided to get the dc5 instead.
