Default Opinions - Suggestions Tranny mounts? K series related...

Ok people I have a little issue and I just want to get some opinions from some of you guys based on what you have done befor and what you would do in my position. Things to consider Time, Money, Labor...
A little bit of backround on my project... I have a 99 Ek hatch that I am building for Road racing/ Time attack, basically full time track car. I have been working on it ofr about a year and a half and I ahev the suspension pretty much finished and teh chassis decently prepped (just need a cage).

So I had decided a few months ago after blowing up my stock single cam that I was ready to go K. I have done lots of research and consider myslef a rather educated guy when it comes to teh K series platforms. I chose to start with the 2.4L platform out of teh TSX, the K24a2. This motor is one of teh best Honda has produced in teh last decade or so if you ask me. It has teh true I-vtec on both sides and it has the wonderful 2.4L bottom end with teh 99mm stroke.

Well after doing some reading and seeing how much torque they are putting down with minimal mods (intake, header, exhaust, K-pro 170-180wtq), a lot of them are having traction issues with the JDM type R tranny and teh US RSX-S tranny. I think a lot of that has to do with the shorter gearing in these tranny's. So I decied that I wanted to use the OEM TSX trans, it has longer gearing which should be better suited for teh torque and teh low redline of teh 2.4, it also has a magnesium case which is probly good for at least 20-30 pounds of weight savings. The draw back is that it uses different mounting points than the RSX or Civic SI trannies, which means that none of teh mount kits out there will fit with this tranny.

So I had been in contact with one of teh two major manufacturers of teh K series mount kits. We had agreed that I would let them use my tranny for mockup and they were going to "give me, for free" the first set of mounts made. well time has passed they have had my tranny for a while and nothing has been done. We have stayed in comunication and I have no real issues with the company, other thing just came up and my project was never done, and now it looks as if it may never get done (well not in teh time frame that I am working with). Well I am going to miss a couple of events I was going to try and make so my time frame is pretty much out the window, now I just want to get this thing running again.

So now here is my issue... and my choices

I can eigther get my tranny back and order a kit from the other guys, use the motor side mount whcih is the same and customise teh other side tranny mount and teh rear tranny mount to work with my trans. I have not even seen how my tranny bolts up compared to teh other K series trans, so I am not sure how much work, time, or money is involved.

Or I could buy another trans, something out of an RSX or a Civic and swicth all of my gearing over to teh other case. I know that this is possible with soem of teh cases if not all. The 5 spd boxes are cheaper and probly easier to find, and I know that they can be converted into a 6 spd but I am not sure yet if all teh gearing can be directly switched over, I am still ooking for a definet ansewer on that. Or I can find an RSX-S 6 spd tranny and use that, maybe I will get lucky and find someone who is selling atranny with a buncg of grinding gears... btu whae I switch teh cases I will also have to buy a new shifter and new cables as my TSX stuff won't work with any other tranny (and thats just more cost adding up).

So here is my delema, let me here what you think and what you may do givin the same situation. I have already spent a ton of oney on this project and I know I am going to haev top spend some more, btu just know that my money tree has died and funds are not un-limited...

Cliff Notes swapping K24a2 in to Ek for track use. Looking to use my TSX tranny for teh longer gearing, but the mount company kind of fell through and will not be making my mounts for me . Do I make my own tranny mounts or switch all of teh gearing in to one of teh other cases that will bolt right up to the existing mounts?

Only 1 of the 3 off teh shelf mounts will work with my swap, unless I get a different tranny case...

You could just use the mounts that will work and take the car to a chassis shop and have the other ones made?

hopefully your not using the EK subframe, you go threw axels very quickly. Its best to swap over to the EG/dc subfram.

Im not sure what the mounts look like but if you have more than $1000 in to two tranny mounts that must be made of gold, or some other precious metal

Yah, I know what you mean. Part of the issue is I haven't even seen the tranny yet. So I am not sure what is invloved. Other issues involve me never really having any custom work like this done so I am not sure what I am lookin at for labor, material, or anything.

I have been talking to Hasport about it and have gotten some good news. I am pretty sure that I will just be making some custom mounts for now and maybe switching over to some Hasport pieces some time down the line...

Now I just need my tranny...
