Default 1.6 or 1.8 What would be the difference

First off I am new to this. I put a B16B ctr motor in my 98 coupe. I read that this is a ITR but with a b16 stroke. I bought a ITR crank/ ITR rods with ctr pistons on them already. Would I loose power if I stroked it back to a 1.8, or should I keep it the way it is. Also, would there be clearance problems if I put them in. I check on a couple different calculators, that the compression ratio would be around 12:1. I dont want to blow the motor right now. Any suggestions.

the ctr motor is not a destroked ITR motor, it is a built up SI motor. Just like the ITR and GSR motors. I think you would have issues with b18 internals in a b16 block. The b16 block is actually shorter then the b18 blocks and would make the pistons hit the head.

wrong. the b16b uses a b18 block with less stroke. its not a built up "si" motor cuz it doesnt even use the same block casting as the b16a

I thought it was 1.8. My question is, the b16b block with the ITR crank/ ITR rods and CTR pistons, Would they work or hit? It looks to be aroun 12:1 compression.

it'll work fine. The b16b and the b18 blocks share the same deck height. CR may end up being a little higher that 12:1

But it is a destroked B18C. It's a 1.6 crank and rods in a 1.8 block pretty much.

Your setup would work. And you won't lose power. No replacement for displacement.

Pretty much. Because of the taller deck height, it uses longer rods than your normal B16, thus creating a better rod-to-stroke ratio.

That's why you can rev the **** out of a B16B.
