Auto Tranny problem 95 civic ex
I just had my auto tranny rebuilt by a reputable shop with the TCI master rebuild kit. I took the car out for a test drive today and found that the tranny started slipping really bad. It got to the point where the car would not even move any more (like it wasnt in gear) and I ended up getting towed home. I spoke to the guy who rebuilt the tranny and he said it might be the throttle adjustment cable. I have the cable basically set to be at all the way closed and opens as the throttle does. Does anyone know if this is correct? Also after I let the car cool down I tested it again , it went into gear and acted normally. After it heated up to operating temperature it started slipping and got to the point where it acted like it was in neutral again. So it seems like it only slips when at operating temperature. When its cold it seems to hold fine (which isnt very long). Any Ideas? Thanks.
I think he was refering to the shift down cable on the throttle body. I dont believe your car has one. Sounds like the trans needs another inspection. Make sure they use genuine Honda ATF as this matters. Check the fluid level and smell the dipstick. Does it smell burnt? In what gear or rpm is it slipping in? All when warm?
my tranny does have a cable that runs to the throttle body. I readjusted today and loosened it up a little to see if that helped, which it didnt. It pretty much slips in all gears until it doesnt go in gear at all (or at least it seems that way), and it seems to happen once the tranny gets up to temp. Fluid level has been checked.
Yeah thats the kickdown cable. If that was the problem it would be constant not just at warm-up. Take it back and have then check the trans again.
I had my car taken back to the shop, and I spoke to the guy today. He hasnt pulled the tranny yet, and said he thinks it might be the o-ring on the torque converter. He asked if I installed it, and I said I didnt know that there was an o-ring on the torque converter. I called the place that made my torque converter (TCI) and they said the torque converters come with the oring preinstalled. Do you think maybe the o-ring is missing , or do you think it sounds more like a transmission problem .

The guy at the shop had the tranny pulled and found that the o-ring was on the torque converter, so its definitely an internal problem. But now the guy has had my car for over 3 weeks, and he said his tranny guy quit
.
So he said give him till wed. to figure out what he'll do but he probably will give me my money back and have me take it elsewhere.
So does anyone know a good transmission shop in OC.
