Default 03-04 1000RR owners chime in

I'm looking to pick up a bike. This will be my 2nd bike. Looking for an 03-04 CBR 1000RR.

What I want to know is:

-How much did you purchase yours for?
-How many owners?
-When and where did you get it? Dealer? PP?
-What is your insurance like?
-And what do you like about it?

I do not want a 600.. I had an 01 F4i, I'm looking for more power and something I can keep for a few years. Compared to other liter bikes, the 1000RR fits me more comfortably, it's slim, and I love the styling. I'm 5'6 and 140. No, I'm not a professional rider.. and I don't want the runaround with questions of whether I can handle the powerband.

I have not ridden one, however I've played around on an 03 R1.. and the power is right up my alley. I'd like to keep it Honda..

Thanks!

I was at a shop yesterday and they had an 04 1kRR and I was looking at it wondering what it would do/feel like if I were to ride it. I have been resisting the temptation of a new or 1 year old bike and the 1000RR is starting to grow on me some more as of yesterday.

I would have to sell my bike and a couple of cars to pay in full but would it be worth it? Consider that my 9RR is set up to my liking and if I bought the thou I'd have to do it also. I could just build my spare engine some more being that it already has a port & pol head, big bore kit and polished carbs. Might end up with the power of the k but it won't handle as well I guess.

Can't answer any of your questions and I'd like to know what there is to like about em also.

I ride an 03 R1 and my roommate has a 04 RR. His pulls harder then mine throughout the powerband and also feels alot more stable. When under hard acceleration I couldnt believe how stable it felt. I was looking at them before I got my R1 but they were just to expensive. If I had to get a liter bike it would be the 1000rr without a doubt. Good luck

I paid 10200 otd for my 04 in 04, it was new from the dealer and I pay 600 a year for insurance. I am 27 and married and I have no tickets or accidents and have had a motorcycle license for 11 years so that has some bearing on it.

I personally like mine quite a lot aside from the exhaust being underseat and the lowers are un painted. You will like the bike if you get it and the first mod I would do is a 15 tooth front sprocket. It should have come like that from the factory because it just wakes it up and makes it roll.

Obviously it was pointless. That's why. You don't see anyone else posting stupid pictures, do you?

It's the HT Rossi/Hayden nut swingers who think everyone on a liter bike will die and you should ride nothing but Ninja 500's until you have a racing license and then only 600's and only on the track.

Ignore them and they will go away.

I know that Nameless RB26 asked what people like about the bike, but I'm curious to know what people don't like about it. There are pros and cons to everything and seeing both sides (con) may actually help in your decision making (I hope)

Lows are cost and comfort, as far as I can tell. From everything I hear the 1000RRs are rock solid and inspire a lot of confidence while cornering.

Dont have one but Ive ridden it plenty. Its a pretty comfortable bike and very stable even though the suspension was dialed in for a guy thats 30lbs heavier than me. It seems to fit me better than my 600rr. If you're under 25 your insurance is gonna be a lot for full coverage.

I rode the 05 1000RR (mentioned in another thread). I can see how one would like the feel and handling of both bikes. If my eyes were closed and I got on the Honda, I'd have a hard time telling it wasn't my bike....short of the seat that's pretty hard.
