Its a very involved process...main thing is sourcing all of the parts.

We will be updating our site with a how-to on this very same chassis.

Total time was about 12 hours...this included lots of "breaks"

if you scroll down, you'll see 2 or 3 other threads about the same thing. other than that, you can use the search feature. it helps a lot.

If you know how to work on car then you can check other peoples work. And an RS for 1400 is a STEAL!!! If you don't buy it send it my way. And its worth the time and effort.

i think the same way, better off buying a manual to begin with. I would buy that rs and resale it ot someone that wants a beater.

(yes i know, lots of people have done it and it is just fine.....yaddda yaddda yaddaa)

its not that hard. I know a company makes the transmission mount that you can use from automatic to manual, so you don't have to reweld a tranny mount, but I did anyways so i can use a OEM mount. After that, you just have to install the clutch pedal, clutch lines. Obviously you have to source those from a good car, but after all that, its not that bad. I've had my car for 5 yrs since converted to manual, and runs great.

i would def get the auto and convert it, i picked up my 96 LS for 2300 bucks with 99k on it. when i converted mine in april i got the hasport auto to manual conversion mount and made a full stainless clutch line which made it a lot easier then getting the line in there. it took me about 6 hours and i have to say its well worth it even spending the extra money and doing it right. i would rather do that instead of getting some ragged 5-speed that grinds gears and needs a clutch, just my opinion
