My distributorking.com distributor grenaded on me today...
I was told they were like OEM, and I believed it... against my better judgement.
I put 15k on it and for the last few k my car has had a stumbling idle. I would never had attributed it to my distributor seeing as how ive had this part for less than 1 year. Let me just say they are NOT like oem... I mean they fit and "almost" look like it but they are like buying one from pepboys.
The lil rubber breather on the cap is already dried and cracking, and there was so much wear on all the electrodes and the spring/coil bridge connector I couldnt believe it! Its like all the parts are softer than the ones Ive had (OEM honda) on my last 2 integras.
ANYWAY... The rotor exploded apart today and left me on the side of the road. To anyone who has replaced a cap/rotor before you know the little screw that holds the rotor onto the shaft? Well these guys obviously thought that it wasnt necessary. I mean it didnt even have a hole in it for the option to be screwed in. It just slipped onto the shaft and has a little metal clip that kinda helps it "squeeze on"
Complete bullshit, there is no way that could have held up, and it didnt. The plastic snapped into pieces around the metal clip and the rotor flopped around damaging my cap.
For those who dont believe me, lemme know and ill post some pics of the POS.
STAY OEM... pay the price so you dont have to pay later. I shoulda known.

sorry to hear that dude, where did you get the part. so other ht member know not to go to the same place. when you bought it, did it say oem replacement? you migh be able to get the manufacturer to pay for your damage if they say its oem replacement.

i've heard good things about them.. i bought a dizzy off them for my crx for 150 shipped.. thinkin of getting a brand new dizzy for my integra too instead of changing cap+rotor.. but after this story maybe ill just change cap+rotor
what part of a distributor is a wear item (not talking about cap and rotor). I don't believe the gear itself can be worn out, or maybe it can but it would take a long *** time right? so that leaves the ignitor and coil. So if there was something wrong with my OEM distributor, its only either one of those two. If it were me, i'd rather get new OEM ignitor and coil instead of buying a brand new distributor.

I've had their dizzy on my teg for almost 2 years and I think it's okay for the price. Could probaly be why I'm starting to have sputtering problems after driving the car a little. Only in 1st and 2nd would it sputter at part throttle and wot
, but this has started recently. I'm gonna try doing a little tuneup 1st before I blame the dizzy.

I think it is a general consensus that caps/rotors last like 50k (mine have.. OEM that is)... regardless, I could have checked it but they are supposed to wear out... not explode... haha

My distributorking distributor gave me problems. Replaced it twice and it still threw code 9. So Jeremy at Redzone did his thing with the second one and now it's good, but I should have bought OEM. I guess some products "Made in Canada" aren't as good as I thought

i have one. bought it like 8 months ago when my factory dizzy of almost 10 years finally gave up. 3 year warranty and shipped for $175, not bad. although i will say sometimes in the rain it seems like it doesn't seal well (the cap i mean) and it sputters a little. we'll see if this turns into a real problem down the road. damn i hate distributed ignition systems. why can't everything have coil-on-plug? no wire problems, no dizzys, etc.

Damn this sucks!!! Should I replace it with a oem ignitor?

could it be that older dist. king dizzies are good and recently their quality went to crap? Maybe they got bought out? Maybe the "ebay store" thing proved to be too much for them to handle and they cant pump out enough?
