Default tranny problems, pops out of 4th gear

i got a gsr tranny that pops out of 4th gear only. does 4th gear need to be replaced and if so is it worth rebuilding or just get another tranny?

sounds like 4th gear or a synchro is about to go. it would probly be cheaper to rebuild over buying a new gsr tranny. and i'll warn you about tranny shops......most of them will ream you hardcore. a tranny shop in town charged my buddy 2200 bucks to rebuild the 5-spd in his89 civic hatch si. he about cried when i told him i could've got him a junkyard tranny for less than 300. chances are you can find a good used gsr tranny for less than you could rebuild it, but thats all up to you. my advice is buy a used one and swap it in when yours goes caput. then you can sell your old one. hell, the case and the final drive alone is worth money if its intact.

Mine does this too, everybody is telling me that it could just be the syncro sleeve if it pops out!

check your fuild level first.

my friends pops out of 5th gear and someone told hime to check his fuild level and he did that and fill it up and no problems afterwards.

heres what I would do , buy a tranny you KNOW is good , take yours out , and take it to someone who knows tranny's but isint going to **** you over. I can get mine rebuilt with new seals and bearings for 200 in labor , add 150 for a 4th gear synchro and sleeve. IMO if you are noticing any notchiness in 3rd gear I would do that one too. although I think they come in sets of 1-2 , 3-4 , and 5,R
