I know this has been coverd before but the server is down. If I were to go to a

junk yard for a b18(Non v-tec) how much should I expect to pay for one? Is there

r u lookin for just a block and head or do u want a tranny too, or the whole swap?
for just the block and head u should pay around 300-400. with tranny, 500-700. and the whole swap should cost 800-1000. these are ballpark prices which you should find at local salvage yards

when yer checkin em out, see if u can pull the valve cover to check the valvetrain.
if u buy a swap make sure you get everything...block,head, ECU,intake and exhaust manifolds, alternator, distributor, wiring, and shifter linkage if appliccable. its best to bring a friend with you who is knowledgable about the b-series swaps so he/she can look it over for you and make sure yer not gettin shafted. definitely get educated about the b18 before you do any buying, so that you know what yer gettin into and how much you'll have to spend if a swap is your end goal. note, the prices i quoted in the last post was for the obd0 b18a1. newer non-vtec b18 motors may cost more depending on mileage and the type of diagnostics.

Different places, different prices.

I once bought a good B18A1 for $160 but I had to pull it myself from a wrecked car, one of my customers bought a JDM B18B for $900 shipped from some wrecking yard in Oregon.
