Default Getting <12v on yellow constant/memory wire

Alright, I've had a really hard time installing my new JVC head unit on my 94 civic lx. I couldn't get it to power on at all. I used a multimeter to check the two lines (red and yellow) - found red supplying a little over 12v (healthy, though) when the ignition was on. The yellow, however, supplies a paltry 2v (and decreases as the multimeter is measuring - perhaps the multimeter is drawing power?).

I've checked all the solder points, fuses, etc. I just can't seem to get more than 2v out of the yellow line. Oh - it also goes up to 4.5v when the ignition is on, but it's still not enough to get the head unit to work correctly.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know. The wiring seems good, but I can't check past the head unit opening.

Thanks a lot,

Sam

The 7.5A, [backup power] fuse in the engine bay fuse box is blown. DO NOT replace with bigger fuse. On today's "high power" HUs 7.5A is not enough power, that may be the case with your JVC, the constant power, [yellow] on today's HUs is no longer just for memory, [clock and radio presets] it is also the main power, [just like on an amp] for the best sound, wire it like an amp, run a fused 12ga or 10ga power wire from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the constant power, [yellow] to it, don't forget to cap off the oem constant power, [white w/ yellow or blue strip] so it can't short out. you should also beef up the ground for the HU, run a 12ga or 10ga wire from the chassis of the HU, [mount to back support screw/bolt] to a good ground point on the chassis or sub dash of the car, [as close to the HU as conviniently possible. 94

Amazing. You were EXACTLY right. Thanks so much for the help. I was _this_ close to hiring someone to fix it. I fixed this in 30 seconds. I'm going to run another line down to it next time I have some time to waste. Thanks so much.
