F***ing Axles!!!!! Need help ASAP!!!
So here is what i got. 99-01 Civic Si Tranny hooked to a b20z and a gsr head all in a 1994 Acura Integra LS W/ ABS. So anyways I bought GSR axles because someone told me they would last longer so why not but now every week or so the axle pops out the transmission on the passenger side. Then throws tranny fluid everywhere. Then I have to get underneath it and fix it but it keeps leaving me stranded. Also it feels like there is some up and down play when the axle is in the tranny. And its all the way in. I used a block of wood on the hub side and tapped it in and wasnt coming out when i put them in and its just all of a sudden out of nowhere they pop out. What the hell could be the problem. Do i just get LS axles or B16 axles or what. Help me out. Its the only car I have and cant just keep getting stranded. Thanks
do all the axle joints spin freely on the axle that keeps popping out.....any 94 and up gsr /ls/itr axles will fit....it just sounds like you have a bum axles.....also check if you have the clip that hangs on the axle that goes into the transmission
check the snap ring and engagment slot in tranny... also with weight on wheels and no axle nut check axle play back and forth. should be .5-1". if there is more then that then the axles are too short.
Yeah so the axle nut is tightened all the way so there is no play in it. And the c-clip is in there. Someone told me that the diff could be going out. Is that possible. The c-clip is in there. I dont know why it last for like a week then pops out. It has only been on the highway when it happened. What could that mean???
no take the axle nut off. put the car on the wheels. get underneath the car and grab the axle shaft. find a good reference and try to move the shaft. shouldnt move more than 1". as far as the diff going out.... dont know about that. check the engagement slot on the tranny that might keep it from engaging properly. good luck
so it is better for the axle to move back and forth a little then not at all. i will go do that and be right back with results.
It doesnt move back and forth at all just up and down. There is play in the axle where it mets the transmission but it will not pull out. What could that mean. It can be pushed up and down and side to side. I know it shouldnt do that! Let me know asap

it should have some play back and forth. try pulling it harder. sometimes the joints dont want to flex. as far as play at the axle and the tranny there shouldnt be at all. sounds like the snap ring isnt engageing for one reason or another. as far as side to side or up and down the play should be very minimal. if it moves a substantial amount u have worn splines or joints.
