2006 Si: Will it be "premium fuel only"???
yes and no
2006 si ........k20z3 6 speed..lsd..197/140..
2005+ rsx-s k20z1 6speed.........210/140..
yes, when the full potential is utilized.
no, since lower grade fuel is put in, the engine will retards itself and possible engine knock.

The manual will recommend premium fuel, yes.

you live in the uk though. dont you guys get gas much greater than 93 octane ? what is the rating of premium fuel there in octane?
for optimum performance, AND gas milage yes premium is required. I have put nothing but 93 octane since i got my rsx. i used to pure 87 in my 2000 prelude before i saw it needed 93 and i was getting like 120 miles to a tank. it sucked

The UK uses the research method to determine the octane in thier fuel.
The US uses an average from the motor method and the research method to determine the octane

11:1 compression ratio, i would say yes. but with computers and knock sensors honda built in insurance for events when premium isn't available. But if you are asking this question i think you should be looking at models where you could afford the fuel for wich you drive.

Yes.
It's in the product brochure. The other Civics will be able to use lower octane.
Don't use anything less if you want to be nice to your motor. If you really must use lower octane, swap out the K20Z3 and give it to me. I'll give you my A3 in a straight trade so that you can buy cheap gas.

The horse power numbers are based on 91 octane. It is possible to run lower octane, but it will hurt performance because the ECU will compenstate for the loss of octane with timing adjustments. It's worth a few extra dollars and have piece of mind.

the UK and most of the world measure thier fuels octane using a different standard than the US. it appears to me you just skimmed thru the thread and blindly made your post while skipping over mine. The octane in fuel around the world isn't any different than the US. What makes the fuel in other countries different is additives put in it for emissions, and carbon deposits, or should i say a lack thereof.

How many people need to reply to the original post and reply with the same thing? It appears to me that some just peek in, read the original post, skip over the thread, and post a reply. Failing to see the fact that it has been answered already.

Yeah, no kidding.
I'm repeating myself too, but maybe someone will comprehend it when I say that the '06 Si will require premium, just like the RSX-S does.

Lynx, you're calling yourself out. The post had already been answered b4 you originally posted. The only reason I bring this up is that it bothers me when people don't take their own advice.

the reason between the power difference in the si vs the rsx is the new hp rating system. actual hp rating on the new 05 rsx is 201 and the 06 si @ 197 for the fact of the drive by wire transmission!
but to answer the ? who wouldnt put premium in a performance car?
