Default Cost for an engine Swap

Hi there,

Im new here but been lurking around. My question is how much would it cost me to swap a F20C engine into a salvaged honda s2000. Also does anyone know where any reliable places to get the engine and the salvaged S2000. If so can you please provide me with links and such. Thanks JOHN

yeah s2000 motors arent in high demand because they can only be dropped into one car, but they can be put in other cars with alot of work, so they arent as expensive as other motors

Ah sorry guys but something got lost in the communication between me and the rep at JDM Source. So I recomfirmed with them and find out that the quoted "4000" is engine shipped to me. SO once again does anyone know how much it would cost to get the engine installed?

its a straght forward swap, most shops do drop in swaps for like 5 600 bucks, but thats pulling the old motor and then putting the new one in, but since your car isnt going to have a motor in there it should be alot less

if you are planning on fully restoring one and not doing most of the restoring yourself, i suggest you just buy a new one. by the time you finish, it will cost you the same or more if you just bought a used one with clean title

zOMG hehe thought u already had a salvaged s2000...

Ok so say the motor costs you 4000 + 500 install so thats 4500 installed.

Now from what i seen on autotrader, the cheapest s2000's costs are around 16,500... now that was for a salvaged one...

U can easily find cheap non salvaged ones for under 20,000. I bought my 02 White + red interior for under 20K.

Wait till its winter time when east coasters dont want their s2000's no more...

dude if hes asking about swap prices, common sense should tell you hes going to buy a S with no motor, now i dont know where your looking but s2000's with no motors arent 16 grand, so hes going be spending alot less then that, and if its missing the motors it most likely going to missing more stuff also so that means the cars going to be even cheaper

Hi this is "s2kmonkey"
truely apologize for making another username because i would like to get back to you and hear your feed back.

My intend goal was to get a salvaged s2000 with a wrecked or missing motor but has a decent or good extoir (minor damage here and there, missing front bumper , hoood, back bumper ) Those things are alright. Then i would get the F20C then just drop it in and play. I do not intend to fully restore the car like in the movie "the fast and the furious" where the car was fully stripped down and rebuild. So is this goal realistic? also i wouldnt mind doing any labor myself but i dont have the tool and i have no real knowledge about swapping engines. IM looking to spend no more than 7-9 grand on this. Please let me know.

$17,000 for a used decent mileage S2000 > $7-8000+ Salvage title, rebuilt headache of an unreliable death trap S2000

Headaches will include:

Locating a used motor
not knowing the motors history
finding a salvaged S2000 you like
finding a way to get it to you
finding/ towing it to someone to get worked on
figuring out what needs to be fixed
finding all the parts you forgot
paying far more than you thought you would
selling a Frankenstien of an S2000 with a salvage title
