Engine check light?
Hey guys, im getting an engine check light. It started last night. I was pulling out in first, how i normally do, but the ground was wet because of this nasty weather we're having. Anyways, it spun the tires till about red line and it caught me off gaurd so i shift fast, and spun 2nd a little. I know this sounds like a stupid inexperienced driver, but i just got off work and was reallly tired, my reaction time wasnt all there and i guess i just paniced. I tried reseting the ecu because i've heard that it sometimes just is an error and that reseting the ecu will make the CEL light go off and, in turn, solve the error. But after reseting the ecu, th CEL light stayed off for about a min after i started it, and then came back on. Have no idea what it could be, any ideas? thanks in advance, a very stupid guy

take it to a shop and have them pull the code for you it wont be much to have it done and youll know exactally what it is. theres a number of things that it could be
how do u know he has kpro?
anyway, with a CEL, no one can just tell u what it is. The computer has a code stored on it now. Go to ur local autozone of dealership and they can pull the code and possibly give u a fix for it. it may be something silly like a loose gas cap.

dont buy one yourself, unless you have a code manual you most likely wont understand what the code is saying or why its on. take your car to an autozone type dealy and they normally check it for free for ya, have them explain it and right down the code number, then go to a dealer and a few independent shops and present them with the code number and prepare for a couple bs stories and a few correct ones. that way youll know why it came on and what to do to fix it.
DELETEING A CODE DOESNT FIX ANYTHING, IT MAY CAUSE MORE DAMAGE IF YOU DRIVE LONGER AND IT MOST LIKELY WILL COME BACK THE NEXT DAY

Hey, something weird happened when i was driving home. The engine check light went off. It was right after i filled up gas. Im thinking that maybe i got a bad batch of gas and the octane wasnt high enough? I dont know, but it just went off. Has anyone heard of this? Is this normal? If the light went off, does that mean it was just an error? Im totaly confused right now, any help is greatly apreciated.

sometimes if you fill your tank while the car is on, or if you drive with the cap loose there becomes a problem and the evap check light comes on, ive seen that alot. so maybe this time around you did it right and it corrected itself and turned off the light.

I have an 05' SI, what the light is, is a sensor light, it will turn off in 3 days. its in your manual. Trust me my girlfriend stalled my car and it came on. I looked it up in the manual and found what I just told you. Sure enough 3 days later it turned off, then it happened again......I know I know, Dont let the g/f drive the car. anyway it turned of again 3 days later.
no you dont have to reset the ecu, (btw you just erase the codes from the ecu not reset it) if the codes not there its not there, however the computer may have codes that dont show the check engine light, and erasing it doesnt fix the problem because the code will still be there, it just doesnt turn on the light.
Engine checl light came back on today while driving home. Im just below half a tank of gas. Cant figure out what might be the problem. IM lost and guess stuck with going to the Acura/honda dealer of the island and spend loads of cash to find out and fix the problem.
Alright, so what does the engine do when it's in the CEL mode? Also, what car are you driving, from your screenname I can guess the RSX base model, but I don't know beyond that. Is there any particular way of driving which is causing the CEL to come on?
Your right, i drive a RSX base model. The car drives like normal when the light is on, other than having a little less power, due to being in limp mode. I do go mountain driving once a week. I recently Installed a Type-R header and a RSX exhaust. The O2 sensor wires weren't long enough, so i had to lengthen them about 6 inches or so. The light didnt come on when driving the car though. I had just finished work, went to my car and started it up. I was waiting for the car to warm up like i normally do. while i was waiting for the car to get up to temp, right before it did, the CEL light came back on. Its been on for about 2 days now. No noises from the valvetrain or anything. Just the light, and a little loss in power. Bad O2 sensor u think? problem with the type-R header having more flow and the ECU is thinking something is wrong? No idea what the problem is, hope it isnt serious. I would take it to an autozone or pepboys like everyone says and have it checked for free...but we dont have those down here. Only a honda dealer. I hate the thought that im stuck with that as my only option. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Also the O2 sensor placing on the type-R header is different. The base model one is in front of the cat and in the middle. The type-R one is in front and in back of the cat. Hope this helps.
This is the CEL code.

The first number is the CEL light code. The 2nd is the OBDII code. The third is the page number in the manual for the RSX.
I have no idea how to fix this since i did not get a chance to buy a manual yet. Anyone with a manual wanna help me out? Also, is this a serious problem? ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
