Which Air Intake?
Ok heres the deal, I know i want a AEM intake, but which one short ram or just the regular intake as in the longer one. Which one is better? Which one would improve my car the best. Is there a difference between the short ram and the long one. Thanks ahead of time.
cold air intake is better but it might screw you up in the rain because it leads right to your bumper then you would have to buy the bypass rain crap.......and short ram is good too but it sucks up hot engine air and engine likes cold air not hot air ..........so i would guess cold air is better.......hope this helps

If you buy Short or Cold either way just get plastic. I can't say how many times I've seen people use these Steel or Metel (whatever it may be) Which bacsicly defets the whole purpose of it, since it can't dispate heat (think that how you spell it) so pretty much all your doing is keeping it the same if not changing it by 2-3 degrees. Which is not a great impact VS. what plastic can do. But hey if you're going for look more power to you

um ive had my cai on my car for going on 3 years and ive driven in pouring rain each yr and have NEVER had a problem, a little water splashed from puddles arent going to do anything, the entire filter has to be submerged

the only way that a cai is goin to cause problems is if you submerse it in water or if you are a moron and drive around with out a fender liner in
ive have mine for over 4 years and have driven that car everyday thru rain and snow with out a problem

exactly and when moving over something like 10 mph there is no difference in intake air temp between a CAI and a short ram, intakes are a waste of money anyways, unless its an intake into a turbine

Plastic? They sell those, are you taling bout AEM or some other company. Also i dont think plastic dissapates heat better than metal, other wise we would see more plastic inside computers. Metal transfers heat better than plastic the last time i remembered, plastic keeps in heat, so because the pipe is metal you can actually feel the heat because it is being transfered. A plastic pipe would feel less hot because its not transfering as much heat, and probably actually keeping more heat niside the pipe.

CAI is better than SRI and will make more power. As stated by everyone else, be careful not to drive in puddles. Don't even bother to get the bypass valve that is sold, it DOES NOT work for wet driving applications. For a bypass to work, the entire filter has to be submerged under water; thats highly unlikely when driving on the streets.
the plastic also heats up...intakes are metal or aluminum? im kinda lost here...but either way i think a short ram would be good...but a cold air intake is best so just get a by pass valve and ull be alright...i know many guys that have had then for year without a problem
I made a mistake I did not mean disapate heat.
It's more of an issue of heating up whats in side of it in this case (air)
If you think about it plastic will not absorb heat as much as metal
Its a proven fact (don't mean to sound coocky)
The only reason I'm saying this is because when i went to tech school (UTI) all the instructors use to call it a hot air intake (metal) And I would ask them why and they would say why would the factory use plastic if it would be cheaper for them to use metal?????
I've seen people use plastic and its more cost effective besides all of that

But in the end i just cut a big hole in the bottom of my stock air box and it seems to be running better not much better. Nothing spectacular.
