Finally PICS (56k .. 14 pics)
Took some pics of my injuries and my bike resulting from an accident i had on June 17th.
A brief recap of what happened .. a lady in a truck in oncoming traffic turned left in front of me, and i t-boned her at 35 mph's, i had enough time to grab the front brake but i grabbed too much and i locked up the front and endo'd into her, head first.

This is the scene of the accident. The lady is the green arrows, i am the blue, impact is orange, and the circled area is where my bike came to rest and that is a stain from some fluid from my bike. Supposedly this is an illegal turn, since she crosses 2 sets of double yellow lines .. it's an EXIT not an entrance, but everybody uses it.

This is what she sees coming up the hill, there is a crown at the top of the hill, this is where i was hit. It looks like it goes into a turn lane, but that is actually for the intersection 300 feet away.

We'll pretend this is me ...

and then BAM. Where is the bike? Oh ya we'll pretend that white truck just rammed the **** out of it, like happened to me.

My injury .. torn ligament and shattered fibula. I now have a 10inch long metal plate running from my ankle up, with 6 screws in it that i will have for the rest of my life. I lost alot of the muscle in my leg from not being able to use it.

My side. doesn't look too bad now, but this is 3 months later. I was missing a gaping piece of flesh, then it finally started to heal up and it got infected, and they cut it open and pulled out a huge piece of automobile glass.

Fairings? Who needs em' anyways.

same with forks ..
here are the rest of the pics .. surprisingly not too much damage considering what happened. Other then the complete front end, i'll just need both rearsets and pegs, and headlights and some plastics which all aren't even that bad.

i didn't have sliders .. but the spools helped a little, and the swingarm was untouched

i should have gotten pics of my helmet and gear, but i forgot.
as of now, i am still at fault
I was put at fault from the cop, because a witness said i was going "about 50" in a 35, and i popped a wheeie in the intersection after running a redlight (the intersection is SUPER bumpy and i can't even control a wheelie [i would have looped it] and he was facing south as i headed east, how'd he see my light?).
their insurance will not give me any money, so we filed for lawsuit today and it's going to be a while before i see any money, if i do. I recieved a neglicant driving in the second degree as well as no endorsement (my permit had just expired), but both were dropped in court.
so because of this, i had to drop out of college, $30,000+ in medical bills, two months lost wages, i most likely wont be able to join the army because of the metal in my leg, i have a totalled bike and so on.
anyways .. i just wanted to post up some pics. ride safe everyone

your whole situation sux, best of luck...questions:
how are you at fault if the turn was illegal? I hate the fact that people made statements to the cop that were false, unless you were lying about how fast you were going. (when i get a bike i feel like it's a necessityto mount cameras on the front and rear to protect myself)
did you have boots on?
did your insurance not cover your medical bills and bike? and you dropped out of school b/c of the time spent recovering from injuries right, not b/c it was a financial burden?

wow...
nice detailed story but sorry about what happened. I too, got into an accident similar to yours. But i was in my car, and some stupid lady decided to run a stop sign. And i had no reaction time until i actually hit her.
Good thing for me was there was about 3 people that stopped and waited with me until cops came, and they were all witnesses on my side.
The good thing was I got lots of money because of her..
Hope yours turns out like mine..

haha that's me! when i went into court a few days ago i was hoping the metal detector would go off, but it didn't haha. I'll get back on two wheels ... but money is the issue right now, and with so much going on and bills that wont stop coming, unless i get a settlement its not gonna be in the near future

no clue, the blame was just put on me. 19 year old on a "crotch rocket" vs old lady in truck. I will admit i was probly going about 40 or so ... but the fact is still there that it was my right of way she didn't yield to.
i wish i had boots on, and when i start riding again, i will never ride without them. unfortunately, i didn't have insurance. My parents have good health insurance, and it covered alot, but there was still quite a bit left, and my bike wont be covered by anyone other then myself unless i get a settlement (in that case it will be turned into a trackbike and i'll get a new bike .. i can only hope).
i dropped out of school cause summer qtr of college started 2 days later and i was in the hospital .. and fall qtr i had no money because i hadn't worked all summer.
thanks for the support everyone

werd... what kind of gear did you have on?
lol, sorry man, i thought that the picture of the girl was you...which was very unsettling after the hairy leg and manly ***!! Anyway, that really sucks!!! I agree with 'whoisDan' about which action should be taken......although perhaps with a little less...um...'enthusiasm' Anyway, sorry bro! (you are a guy right? cause if not....please dont hurt me!!)
haha ya i am a guy ... that that wasn't my *** lol, that was my front/stomach. the crease you see isn't my *** crack, it's the side of my abs.
the witness = on crack.
my gear was a Frank Thomas Strike (leather) jacket, a full face KBC helmet which if it was anything but full face i would be dead, and Frank Thomas full leather gaunlet racing gloves... other then that, i was wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
My leather jacket is destroyed, not from my the wreck but the paramedics, as well as my favorite shirt ... and my helmet is toast, you can't tell it is cause it held up so well, but the impact would deem it unsafe .. but my gloves held up
all in all .. i shouldn't be around to tell people about it. when i was in the hospital, everytime i went somewhere, i would hear "oh you're that guy that was in the motorcycle wreck".
there are consequences to everything in life; good or bad.
edit: this has been a drunk post ... but it made me think alot about the situation. the only thing that could make this situation somewhat "right", is monetary compensation. I've been through alot, and lost alot ... and money is the only thing i could see that could make this more ok in my mind. But the worst part is what this has done to my mom. I'll admit i'm a momma's boy .. always have and always will.. but when it comes down to it, my mom cannot look at a motorcycle, see an ambulance, think of me on a bike, or think of my accident, without completely breaking down and losing it. THIS is what you can't ******* put a price on .. and could possibly make me not come back to bikes at all, regardless on how much i love them. i'm losing my train of thought, so i'll just stop. but when i get to say my side of the story to the court or what not .. that will be the point i stress the most.

that really sucks ***... I know your our sport has lost a good participant because these types of accidents are difficult to bounce back from... they are mentally traumatic and financially traumatic. that ankle looks messed up, I am sorry for your pain. But unfortunately the officer is probably correct... in the best of cases, your at least partially at fault, not trying to bum you out bt you know, we have gone over this before. if you do come back, I am sure the lesson has been learned. good luck with the case. if the opposition offers partial fault, i would take it. and sue your own insurance company.

Hopefully people will realize that despite the fact that you weren't acting like a jackass and weren't even going that fast that your life has become a maelstrom of bullshit because a) inadequate gear and b) no insurance.
At the very least lets hope you've learned from it.
At the very least lets hope you've learned from it.
The thing that sucks most is the stereotype...even in court the judge will frown apon the fact your 19 on a sportbike or "crotchrocket", had you been in a car, the story would be completely differnt, and you might get a fat settlement out of it (granted your injuries would have been less)...yuck stuff like that makes me want to stop riding street all together and just track my bike. If i could afford to , trust me i would...glad to hear you made it through but sucks about the whole ****-uation take care man, hope to hear you back in the saddle soon. damn.
On a side note one of my best friends bike walked off in the back of a truck in the middle of the night last night.....99 R6, we got home at 2:30am and went to bed, woke up in morning and it was gone from carport....effin crazy

there's a chance i might be able to get into the army. I'd rather die fighting for my country, then getting nailed by an incoherent old lady in a truck,

Damn man, I hear ya. One thing I have noticed, ITS ALWAY THE BLACK RR's that get in wreck. I had a 2004 1000RR in the beautiful black, and I wrecked mine. Shattered my pelvis, didn't walk for 3 months, in the hospital for 3 weeks straight, laying on my back with a rod in my leg pulling my bone out of my pelvis. The ball of the femur (i think thats what the bone is) punched through the socket of my pelvis. When I woke up after the collision, both of my legs were out flat and straight, but my right one was prolly a good 5 inches shorter than my left. I knew something was very verywrong, aside from clipping a van at 75 mph (no exaggeration). I missed a semster of school, spents lots of money in medical bills even with a great insurance policy. My wreck was July 21st, 2004. I didn't walk again till late October. I have lots of scaring (no digital camera, I would love to show you to compare). I have plates, screws, and all sorts of other metal in me too bro! Sets off metal detectors in some places... it's a great conversation maker. Amazingly enough by some miracle, I exceled in phyical therapy, got most of my strength back, and started back to school and work in January of this year!
Best of luck to you, hopefully it will make you appreciate life more and you'll learn from your mistakes. Are you planning on riding again? I can't wait to get another bike. These new 600s keep getting meaner every year. Keep your chin up and you'll be almost back to perfect in no time!!!

This was one of the hardest things for me to deal with when I crashed. Seeing everyone around you so concerned. I love riding, but it really made me question whether I would ride again.

this is not me ... but this is another guy on HT who fractured his fibula, and this is almost identical to mine with the plate and screws and all that .. but my fracture looked worse IMO
